Data Mesh & Cloud Architecture Lead -SVP
Job Overview:
We are seeking a visionary Data Mesh and Cloud Architect (Hybrid Architecture) Lead to drive the implementation of a cutting-edge, scalable data and cloud ecosystem for our enterprise-wide Controls Technology initiative. This role combines leadership in designing and implementing a Data Mesh architecture with expertise in cloud and hybrid infrastructures, ensuring seamless integration of on-premises systems with cloud-native environments.
The ideal candidate will be both hands-on and strategic, enabling decentralized data ownership while building and managing robust cloud solutions. This role is critical for fostering innovation, ensuring data accessibility, and delivering secure, scalable architectures that meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Mesh Architecture:
Define and implement a comprehensive Data Mesh strategy, enabling distributed data ownership and empowering domain teams to own and govern their data.
Design scalable, discoverable, and high-quality data products aligned with organizational goals.
Establish and enforce data governance standards to ensure data security, compliance, and consistency across domains.
Collaborate with business units to integrate domain-specific data into the broader enterprise architecture.
Cloud and Hybrid Architecture:
Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures that integrate on-premises systems with cloud-native AWS services, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
Lead cloud migration efforts, including lift-and-shift and refactoring of legacy applications for cloud optimization.
Build and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) frameworks for automated deployment and management of hybrid environments.
Establish robust disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions for hybrid systems.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a cross-functional team of data engineers, cloud architects, and infrastructure specialists to deliver on the Data Mesh and hybrid architecture vision.
Mentor team members, ensuring skills development and alignment with evolving technologies.
Foster a collaborative environment between data and cloud teams to ensure seamless integration and performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Generative AI and other Controls Technology teams to ensure interoperable solutions and scalable integrations.
Act as a liaison between technical and business teams, translating complex requirements into actionable designs.
Promote a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
Implement monitoring frameworks for data and cloud systems, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and cost efficiency.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to improve scalability, security, and efficiency.
Required Technical Skills:
Data Mesh Expertise:
Deep knowledge of Data Mesh principles, distributed data systems, and domain-driven design.
Proficiency in building and managing scalable data pipelines and data products.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure:
Expertise in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) and hybrid cloud architecture.
Strong experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Data Governance & Integration:
Proven ability to enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, lineage, and compliance.
Knowledge of API development and integration strategies for hybrid environments.
Networking & Security:
Strong understanding of hybrid networking, including VPCs, VPNs, security groups, and IAM.
Advanced Analytics:
Familiarity with integrating data products into AI/ML platforms and advanced analytics tools.
Required Leadership & Soft Skills:
Strategic Vision: Ability to define and execute a long-term strategy for integrating Data Mesh and hybrid cloud architectures into the enterprise ecosystem.
Team Leadership: Proven track record of building and managing cross-functional teams in complex, distributed environments.
Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across technical and business units.
Innovation Focus: Passion for exploring and applying emerging technologies to drive business transformation.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges in data and cloud systems.
Qualifications:
10+ years Banking, Financial Services experience
8+ years of experience in data architecture and cloud infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years focused on Data Mesh or hybrid cloud solutions.
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
Proven ability to deliver large-scale cloud migrations and data architecture transformations.
Excellent communications skills
Demonstrated facility to interact and work effectively with diverse teams
Ability to lead projects with multiple counterparts across organizations
Ability to work under pressure, facilitate discussions and conduct group mee
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Cloud Computing, or a related field, or equivalent experience, potentially Master's degree/MBA
