Team/Role Overview
Citi’s Supply Chain Operations (SCO) delivers secure buying and paying channels for third party vendors and employee reimbursements in 90+ countries globally as part of the broader Business Operations Shared Services (BOSS) organization.
The purchase to pay (P2P) operations team is responsible for 1) purchase orders, invoice processing, and payments of >$40billion per year; and 2) employee expense processing. The mission is to provide global exemplary service with strong controls, driving enhanced user experience and superb customer/ supplier satisfaction, through simplification and standardization of processes and system automation, delivered by diverse, passionate and highly talented individuals.
This is a senior level manager role providing strategic and operational leadership, accountable for a combination of global and regional P2P processes, programs and standards for the EMEA region. The role is responsible for ensuring that P2P and Expense Reimbursement activities meet the global standards and the needs of the EMEA region.
In addition to managing to the global standards and the functional team staff and operations to meet or exceed service commitments, the position also requires close partnership with Citi Finance, Citi Shared Services, Procurement and Third-Party Management, Systems and Risk and Control teams and with all Citi businesses and countries that utilize P2P services to deliver the best outcomes for Citi.
What you’ll do
• Assure performance and drive global standardization and automation of processes and
improvement programs, in partnership with the other members of the SCO Leadership Team
and Global Process Owners to the most globally standard processes possible whilst meeting
regional regulatory and other country and region requirements.
• Monitor and analyze SCO Operations daily operations Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) in order to identify actionable trends to deliver efficiency, automation and manage team capacity (the need for additional or fewer resources) based on current and predicted volumes.
• Manage relationships with all regional stakeholders including Country, Cluster, Regional
Operations and Technology Heads, Citi Country Officers and the regional management
team. Provide regular reporting, represent the group in regional forums and take the lead
with any risks and issues.
• Define and execute the strategic agenda for any P2P function that is led from the region,
including:
- Designing a global strategy roadmap to advance operational standardization (e.g., process, procedures, tools, metrics).
- Defining and documenting a digitization/tools enhancement global roadmap, and partnering with systems teams on the design and implementation of solutions, including coordination of UAT (testing) as required.
- Driving global operations efficiency and productivity, identifying and sponsoring continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintaining a global inventory of documented processes, procedures, exceptions, language and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting other Region SCO Leads and Region SCO Ops Heads with subject matter expertise to solve regional/local escalations, addressing root causes and tracking issues to closure
- Training SCO Ops staff to better assimilate and adhere to global standards
- Co-design global Capacity Plans with Global SCO Ops Function Leads and actively
participate in monthly reviews to continuously identify opportunities to improve operations’ productivity efficiency and effectiveness, managing resources to budget and productivity targets - Co-define Ops team’s process related goals with Global SCO Ops Function Leads, setting clear targets that teams will be measured
- Embed a culture of coaching staff whilst actively monitoring and assessing peoples’
development needs and training opportunities - Represent SCO on global Internal and External audits/regulatory matters, working hand-in-hand with Global SCO Ops Function Leads to support local/regional audits and regulatory reviews.
- Work in partnership with the EMEA Head of O&T and as a part of the EMEA O&T Senior
Leadership Team, of the UK Senior Manager Regime (SMR) Delegates and of the CEP
PCF49 regulation. - Own the resolution of any issues including timely remediation of control failures
- Co-develop and maintain Continuity of Business (COB) plan with Global SCO Ops
Function Leads, with oversight of periodic testing to ensure systems’ and teams’ readiness - Champion a culture of continuous improvement to deliver risk reduction, excellent client
experience, and efficiencies. Rethink the operation in order to drive radical as well as
incremental improvements to efficiency, risk, customer experience.
What we’ll need from you
- 12+ years of experience in a fast-paced, complex environment - significant experience in Accounts Payable or other Operations roles.
- Very strong leadership, influencing and matrix management skills, with ability to motivate diverse groups of individuals and successfully present information to seniors and stakeholders to drive change and collaboration - experience managing complex operations/teams supporting multiple countries
- Proficiency in English – both written and verbal
- Strong stakeholder engagement demonstrated by regular effective communications and prompt resolution of escalated issues
- Proven ability to prioritize business objectives and effectively manage multiple projects to benefit realization
- Results-orientation with ability to conceive, standardize and execute global operating plans
- Credibility to effectively engage colleagues, build trust, and make connections at all
levels across the firm - Ability to troubleshoot/ problem-solve and make sound decisions in response to rapidly
changing and complicated situation - Demonstrated effectiveness as a strategic thinker who thrives as a member of a dynamic
leadership team - Advanced change management and implementation skills to drive process standardization in a multi-cultural, cross-product environment with a high degree of accountability
- Demonstrated professional ethics and integrity in carrying out responsibilities to clients,
peers, and franchise - Strong record with organizational and project management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high pressure, dynamic environment
