Team/Role Overview

Position is a part of Budapest Regulatory Reporting team, which services German entities including CGME, CEP Germany

Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG (CGME) has been set up as the Citigroup strategic solution for the Brexit related changes for the broker dealer chain. CGME is also a CRR Credit Institution license resulting in additional regulatory reporting requirements and heightened regulatory scrutiny. The role is part of the CSC Regulatory Reporting team and has in depth interaction with business on all locally booked business.

This position will oversee regulatory change related matters for the other bank chain legal entities domiciled in Germany as well.

  • Lead regulatory change projects for the local regulatory reporting team for Germany Controllers.

  • Ensure accurate implementation local regulatory reporting requirements for Germany entities.

  • Coordination with various stakeholders such as the service centre in Budapest and technology.

  • Ensure overall efficient and targeted project results, identify process improvements & drive re-engineering initiatives.

The reporting requirements and change initiatives are spread across Financial, Statistical, and Prudential regimes.

Financial and Statistical reporting team is responsible for categorizing end of period positions in the form of locally required balance sheet & P&L statements, while Prudential Reporting team is responsible for capital adequacy calculation as per Basel rules, which includes accurate monitoring and reporting of capital ratios to several stakeholders including senior management, business leads and regulators.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee and manage the production, analysis and delivery of reports to various constituencies (National / central regulators like BaFin, ECB, SEC, etc) based on requirements such as IFRS, German GAAP, CRR.

  • Perform analysis of financial results and conclude cause of variances such as accounting issues and economic events.

  • Participate in efficiency and innovation projects on ad hoc basis by reviewing and developing current processes using advanced digitalization tools.

  • Maintain and further development of key controls including reconciliations, variance analysis and mapping reviews. Ongoing review and development of processes to increase efficiency on a long term.

  • Liaise with multiple departments of the covered countries (including Data Services, Financial Control, Risk Departments, Treasury, FP&A etc.) to coordinate reporting and resolve issues.

  • Provide support to country Finance teams or other central teams on an ad-hoc basis (e.g. audits, regulatory inquiries).

  • Check and ensure that procedures, policies and responsibility matrixes are applied to adequately cover rules and regulations.

  • Prepare report mapping logics and rules set up in new system implementation project.

What we’ll need from you

  • University/College degree in finance/accounting.

  • 8+ years of work experience in financial, regulatory or risk reporting / auditing roles.

  • Prior knowledge of Citi legal entity processes, systems and data structures would be an asset.

  • Good understanding of Accounting & Finance principles and Financial Markets and products/Regulatory Reporting requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people across different functions and varying levels of seniority.

  • Knowledge of VBA, Python, Knime, SQL.

  • Knowledge about German GAAP / IFRS / Basel is highly advantageous.

  • Languages: English (mandatory), German (advantageous).
