This position will reside under the Branded Cards organization within the American Airlines (Citi/AAdvantage) Product Management team. The Citi/AAdvantage card portfolio plays a critical role within this organization, combining the strengths of the world’s largest airline and the world’s largest credit card issuer to deliver award-winning products in the travel co-brand space. The American Airlines Co-Brand program is a 37-year partnership, and recently announced a 10-year extension of our partnership including reaching an agreement to acquire the Barclay’s American Airlines co-branded card portfolio, including becoming the exclusive issuer of AAdvantage co-branded credit cards starting in 4Q25. Not only is this a tremendous milestone for the partnership, but this expansion unlocks significant growth potential.

We are currently searching for a Risk & Controls Lead/Project Manager with an analytical, strategic, and operational mindset to join our Cit/AAdvantage Product Management team. Our organization recently expanded to include the Fields Sales team (who will work closely with the flight attendants, airport gate and lounge agents, and call center representatives), and the Partner Channel Program Management team (who will manage the employee communications, incentive programs, and training associated with these channels/representatives). The individual in this role will be responsible for building an enhanced control framework for the launch of new partner channels/products (e.g. airport and in-flight channel takeover from Barclays), as well as expansion of existing book of work. This individual will be tapped to provide program management oversight ensuring the right controls and processes are in place, which will help enable fast moving growth plans. Keys to success will be developing and leveraging strong partnerships with internal teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts (e.g., In Business Control, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Product and Marketing owners) as well as external partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all control activities related to new and existing partner channels/products, focusing on launch of new channels/products, and maintaining existing book of work.
  • Understand how marketing, training, and incentive programs work in partner channels to develop sustainable preventative and detective control solutions. Review existing controls for effectiveness and simplification.
  • Develop effective monitoring routines against existing controls.
  • Implement best in class Risk & Controls dashboard/reporting to update leadership team.
  • Maintain ongoing audit/exam readiness and respond timely to inquiries from reviewers with high quality walkthroughs and artifacts. Additionally, prioritize and execute against all assigned regulatory commitments such as consent order requirements.
  • Identify manual processes, appropriately assess corresponding risks and champion for systemic solutions/automation.
  • Stay abreast of evolving control requirements for person-to-person marketing channels and ensure that sales practices risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner and identify and implement sustainable solutions in partnership with Cobrand Partners.
  • Facilitate oversight of required/recommended training across Partner and Citi employees.
  • Cultivate risk management practices across the organization and champion a best-in-class risk and controls culture – be a risk raiser!
  • Deliver against Citi’s regulatory transformation commitments and amplify process and control excellence to drive towards frictionless and radical simplification/automation.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of experience in Financial Services with a focus (preferred) on Marketing, Risk Management and/or Compliance/Control.
  • Track record of advanced project management skills, and exceptional communication/influencing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at once. Ability to step into role and pick up programs and projects mid-stream and manage them to completion.
  • Analytical skills, creative problem solving, and sense of ownership a must.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint with an aptitude to quickly learn new systems, platforms, and software.
  • Personal accountability and decisiveness in a strong work ethic culture necessary.
  • Experience in managing partner relationships and/or external vendors.
  • Highly organized individual who can establish and successfully drive results against goals.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree required; Master’s degree preferred but not required.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$125,760.00 - $188,640.00
