Operational Risk Officer

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within a defined area and contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results as well as design, planning and policy formulation within area of expertise.

The role gives the prospect of risk management and improvement of risk tools and processes. It also gives opportunity to work with senior stakeholders as well as to cooperate with many functions within the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Establishes and oversees the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.

• Independently assess risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.

• Serves as a subject matter expert for Issues Management (e.g. Corrective Action Plans).

• Recommends control enhancements as needed.

• Develops and maintains relationships across the business users and Lines of Defense to better understand and deliver customer requirements by responding to changes in the internal and external business environment.

• Identifies best practices to be shared with global Citi businesses.

• Develops and maintains tracking metrics for management reporting and escalation.

• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Bank, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.

• Min 4 years of experience in Operational Risk. Other risk and control disciplines would be a plus – credit, and market.

• Experience in ICT Risk Area/ Markets would be desirable.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal & written.

• A team-player with positive/can-do approach.

• High level of energy, enthusiasm and motivation.

• Fluent Polish and English.
