The Underwriting Product Strategy Lead is a strategic professional responsible for shaping the development and execution of underwriting solutions within the lending product suite. This role requires deep expertise in underwriting models, risk-based pricing, and credit decisioning workflows, with the ability to adapt emerging trends to drive innovation in underwriting processes. The role demands excellent communication skills to engage with senior stakeholders, influence business strategy, and collaborate across risk, technology, and business teams.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute the underwriting product strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, risk appetite, and market trends.

Define underwriting workflows, risk models, and credit decisioning frameworks that optimize client experience while maintaining strong risk controls.

Drive the development of dynamic risk-based pricing models, incorporating market-driven adjustments and portfolio risk insights.

Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to execution, ensuring seamless integration of underwriting solutions within lending platforms.

Partner closely with risk, compliance, and technology teams to define business requirements and regulatory considerations for underwriting innovations.

Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive benchmarks to refine underwriting strategies and capabilities.

Act as the primary liaison between business, risk, and technology stakeholders to drive underwriting product enhancements.

Oversee governance and control frameworks for underwriting processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing in a large and complex business
  • Understanding of the underwriting and/or credit decisioning space
  • Intellectual curiosity, analytical and conceptual thinker
  • Proactively seeks and develops new opportunities
  • Thorough financial acumen and P&L management experience
  • Excellent analytical, interpretive and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of bringing diverse groups and perspectives to work against a common goal
  • Ability to maintain momentum and minimize client and employee attrition
  • Ability to establish and maintain senior client relationships and to work across multiple facets of Citi businesses
  • Process Management knowledge with a propensity for detail and comprehensiveness of content
  • Ability to collaborate and clearly communicate with senior members of an organization
  • Project Management skills with experience leading large cross functional initiatives
  • Proven track record as change agent, with ability to encourage and embrace innovative ideas and solutions
  • Self-aware with ability to adapt to various situations, rapidly assimilate and report on complex information while creating a future vision


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$130,880.00 - $196,320.00
