The Senior Data & ETL Engineer Applications Development is a hands-on Individual Contributor position responsible for design, develop and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging and implementation.
  • Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgements to recommend and implement solutions
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
  • Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support systems.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Mentor other junior members in team and collaborate with other senior engineers to deliver work.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience preferred in Financial Service industry but not mandatory.
  • Experienced and good understanding in DWH concepts and architecture.
  • Experienced in data modelling, data management and database concepts.
  • At least 5 years of experience in delivering production level code using ETL tool Talend
  • 5 Years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux shell scripting
  • Hands on Experience in Python programming.
  • Proficiency with SQL, PLSQL and database design, performance tuning, writing functions and procedures.
  • Experienced or good knowledge on cloud platforms like snowflake, starburst, or other public cloud data pipeline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in distributed technology like Spark programming (pyspark or scala or java)
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in Agile and modern ways of working.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, debugging and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • 9 years plus of experience in ETL (Talend) Development and DW architecture in a volume intensive data warehouse environment preferably in financial industry

  • Knowledge on Unix Shell / Perl scripting, Autosys

  • Strong experience working with Oracle database

  • Good Experience of application integration

  • Exposure to / Knowledge of a Cloud solution like Snowflake / GCP

  • Knowledge of Java (Core Java, Spring, Multithreading) is good to have

  • Solid database knowledge around partitioning, stored procedures, functions, performance tuning, optimization of SQL

  • Experience in all aspects of software development life cycle for DW/BI projects

  • Knowledge of Python, Tableau is a plus.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical ability and the ability to work effectively with systems technical staff and business users

  • Ability to work successfully under pressure in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment
