About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Performance Test Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our applications and systems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing performance tests, analyzing results, and identifying bottlenecks. You will collaborate closely with development, QA, SRE, and operations teams to deliver high-quality products that meet our performance goals. We encourage bold exploration of interactions and experiments that push innovation and use these learnings to bolster the foundation of best practice reference design patterns that foster a consistent, efficient, and familiar cross-product experience. A successful candidate will have an established background in software development / quality engineering / devops, strong technical ability, solid communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and have a creative flair for achieving the impossible.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute performance test plans and scripts using industry-standard tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, etc.).
- Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot performance issues and implement optimizations.
- Monitor application performance in production and pre-production environments.
- Develop and maintain performance test frameworks and automation scripts.
- Create and maintain performance test reports and documentation.
- Participate in performance tuning and capacity planning exercises.
- Stay up to date with the latest performance testing trends and technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our performance testing processes.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on performance-related aspects.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to integrate performance testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Participate in incident response and post-mortem analysis, assist in troubleshooting production issues and contribute to post-mortem analysis to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of test plans, test cases, and test results and report the testing actions.
- Investigating customer problems referred to you by the technical support team, testing bugs, and creating and managing bug reports.
- Continuously learn and explore new testing methodologies, tools, and technologies.
- Managing the final quality on production release.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in performance testing of web applications, APIs, and distributed systems. (Adjust years of experience as needed)
- Strong understanding of performance testing methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in using performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, etc.).
- Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.).
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Linux/Windows) and networking concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree in computer science, information technology or similar.
