Head of Process and Systems Improvement, Finance CAO - C16
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer for Finance, the Head of Process and Systems Improvement is responsible for managing the teams that execute change initiatives led by the Finance CAO, including Functional Target Operating Model and Finance-wide Technology Investment planning, including central business processes and controls and managing and monitoring key metrics related to target operating model definition and initiatives, deployment of enterprise capabilities, including AI, process definition/taxonomy and uses, process health and technology and process roadmaps and investments.
The role will be responsible for designing, implementing and continually improving the strategy and operating model for these activities, including day-to-day processes, guidance, deliverables and compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures, leveraging enterprise tools (systems, processes, workflows, procedures). The role will require process and technology technical skills and a client service mindset to develop and evolve processes that enable the entire Finance function to succeed. The individual and team will work closely with stakeholders across the Finance function and with the Program Management team within the Finance CAO function.
Responsibilities
- Target Operating Model: Manage and align Finance’s Target Operating Model with financial plan and firm-wide priorities. Oversee execution of a discrete set of initiatives to achieve interim and target states of the Target Operating Model.
- Enterprise Capabilities, including AI: Identify ways to deploy enterprise capabilities across the Finance function in a consistent, standardized manner, including Desktop Analytics, CitiLean, Operations Process Re-Engineering Framework tools (OPRF), Citi Stylus, etc.
- Process Taxonomy: Manage Finance’s CEAM taxonomy and operationalize its implementation across various use cases (e.g., MCA, DCP, Business Continuity, Job Architecture) in a consistent, standardized manner.
- Technology Investment Prioritization: Serve as primary point of contact for Technology function as it relates to investment request prioritization, including serving as an escalation point and decision-maker and providing input on prioritization process.
- Technology Investment Delivery: Review and provide input on technology investment book of work progress, governance, change control, etc.
- Governance: Serve on technology and process governance councils, working groups, and committees where applicable, including serving as Finance function representative.
- Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with key stakeholders and enabling functions, including peers and colleagues within and outside of Finance.
- People Management: Conduct management responsibilities for multiple teams, including management of people, budgeting and planning, performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Cit, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
- 20+ years of relevant experience with progressively responsible experience
- Specific technology planning and innovation experience is a plus
- Comprehensive knowledge of technology investment process, financial planning cycles, process re-engineering principles, and change management
- Strong leadership aptitude with demonstrated change management ability, including setting clear vision/objective and supporting goals to excite, engage and get buy-in from direct and matrix organization and stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to take complex information and communicate simply and effectively with stakeholders across various levels of seniority and risk and control expertise
- Ability to collaborate in an environment where priorities are frequently changing across a variety of global stakeholders with various levels of seniority
- Strategic and analytical thinker who is detail-oriented and can take broad visions and concepts and develop structured plans, actions and measurable metrics and then execute on those plans; demonstrated ability to prioritize high impact potential challenges effectively
- Consistently reads different situations accurately and takes appropriate action to gain senior commitment. Ability to work collaboratively with partners across functions, to navigate a complex organization, and to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level to align and drive decision-making and business strategy
- Strong people manager who is comfortable outlining objectives, delegating responsibilities, providing clear and honest feedback and demonstrated track record of effective management and development of junior talent
- Experience managing teams with broad accountability in a complex environment and demonstrates a flexible, resilient and action-oriented approach to ambiguous, high-pressure and time sensitive situations
