Director, Senior Program Manager – Modern and Simple Program - New York (Hybrid)
Director, Senior Program Manager – Modern and Simple Program
The ‘Modern and Simple’ program is a Citi-wide initiative aimed at improving the quality of our foundational systems at Citi. It consists of two streams:
- the ‘Modern’ stream will focus on remediation of key applications, which depend on software components that are unsupported or otherwise deprecated
- the ‘Simple’ stream aims to reduce the complexity of Citi’s overall application landscape by reducing the number of systems performing key CEAM functions, and consolidating those functions into strategic systems.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- The Senior Program Manager for ‘Modern & Simple’ will be responsible for coordinating and supporting application teams in their journey towards a more modern and simple bank. Although transparent project reporting and accurate financial management will be a key outcome, the role also requires a depth of interest in the technology concerns that this program is designed to address.
- Working with developers in an effective way will be a key differentiator, as well as the ability to bring teams together to collaborate on designing effective solutions.
- The successful candidate will facilitate collaborative communities of practice that bring together all groups working on similar problems in a forum where they can exchange ideas and design best practice solutions. However, there will also be a strong element of ‘traditional’ project management, particularly because this program is a key pillar of Citi’s Consent Order response.
- The Senior Program Manager will therefore be responsible for ensuring that this program follows Citi’s requirements for Consent Order related programs, especially including tracking, project artifacts, and materials for senior stakeholders, as well as seeing the milestone closure process through to conclusion.
Key Skills and Experience required
- Proven Project / Management experience managing complex cross functional programs delivering on projects in geographically diverse, multi-team environments within a Tier 1 Bank
- Ability to pro-actively manage programs to keep them on track, with persuasive communication skills and time management.
- Proven experience Identifying key gaps in project plan and dependencies and ability to organize/facilitate conversation leading to an acceptable conclusion
- Ability to understand business impact through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes and industry.
- Ability to develop project plans, manage individual deadlines, goals and risks.
- Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using basic root cause analysis.
- Manage project scope by assessing requirements changes, determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk.
- Ability to navigate a complex environment, work with a large group of stakeholders and participate in decision making.
- Excellent interpersonal relationships with ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
