About the team:
As part of the newly created Data Governance Transformation team for the Enterprise Risk Management function., you will be part of a team responsible to: establish, maintain, and communicate the Enterprise Risk Data and Tech transformation Management data strategy; create and deliver technology implementation roadmaps, ensuring that both business and regulatory requirements are met; and drive implementation and adoption of consistent data management standards and capabilities to support the Enterprise Risk Management Framework adoption across the enterprise and relevant businesses / functions / regions.
This role sits within the infrastructure pillar of the Data Governance - Risk Data & Technology Transformation organization, focused on the buildout of the foundational architecture to support Citi's Data transformation journey. The focus will be to design and implement target state infrastructure and data flows to support our Enterprise risk functions. This will include understanding the curcurrent and developing critical data element requirements for ERM Regulatory reporting and ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data for "source of origin" through its lineage to "output usage (i.e., endpoint consumption). In addition, the individual will assist in strengthen data governance across the ERM systems, aligning to new and related data management policies, guidelines and procedures.
About the role:
The Business Data Analyst role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate definition and execution of Risk requirements according to the Citi Data Governance Policy (CDGP) and Standard (CDGS). The role reports into the Data Management - Enterprise Risk Management Data Governance and Transformation Lead.
The Business Data Analyst position’s responsibilities include but are not limited to lead Use Cases aligned to BCBS 239 reports specific to Enterprise Risk Management and ensuring compliance with Citi's Data Governance policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and related documents. This includes identifying gaps in data quality controls to reduce risk, partner and collaborate with ERM’s data consumers on data quality remediation challenges; document data flows, processes, and procedures; ensuring data requirements are implemented, and that focus remains on the scope and commitments of each phase of the Risk Consent Order Data Quality Plans to ensure proof of Risk Reduction. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of risk processes, systems and reporting, the Citi Data Operating Model, and a solid conceptual/practical grounding in Enterprise Risk Management.
This role requires excellent data analysis skills, in addition to strong presentation / communication skills in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior levels. Diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results with respect to meeting regulatory commitments and data governance compliance (inclusive of updating and tracking progress within various data and project management tools. Responsible management for leading a team and ensuring work product output and artifacts meets Citi's standards.
Responsibilities:
- Drive execution of critical aspects of data governance policy and data strategy for critical Enterprise Risk Management regulatory, risk and business decisioning reports with specific focus on BCS 239 reports.
- Partner with data consumers to agree on the scope of critical data elements, data quality challenges and ensure that the data operating model is implemented to reduce data risk.
- Create or support the creation of data and system flow documentation and process maps. Work to align other key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, business process maps, and training materials with the data and system process flows.
- Remediate issues partnering with various business and technology functions.
- Partner with business data owners required to ensure maintenance of key artifacts and overall data quality improvements.
- Lead the consolidation of disparate information about the data, as well as ensure a sustainable understanding of how data flows through operational and analytic platforms and assist Data owner in institutionalizing an enhanced understanding of information assets at a fine grain, coarse grain and aggregate level.
- Lead initiatives to reduce Citi’s data management risks, as well as support the cultural shift toward active data management and ownership.
- Identify data quality “hot spots” or points of exposure. Determine strategies to improve data quality controls and monitoring routines to de-risk points of data quality vulnerabilities using CDO approved tools and solutions.
- Institute and manage change management processes related to data and system flow documentation and related data governance procedures.
- Identify and support opportunities continuously to streamline and simplify the execution of data transformation initiatives and data capabilities.
- Be a trusted and informed advisor/partner to regional teams and lines of business staff members.
- Prepare and present status updates and solutions to stakeholders, business partners, and technology teams in a succinct manner to drive decisions and actions.
- Lead meetings and working sessions to solve issues, challenges, and risks by factoring input from partners and diverse points of view.
- Promote “data as an asset” and influence culture change to make the organization increasingly more data driven.
- Consult with business clients to determine system functional specifications and requirement--provides user and operational support including documentation of business requirements using Agile methodologies and Sprint iterative development.
- Interpret data and analyzing results using statistical techniques to identify trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Understand current data processes and business requirements to help determine new and innovative ways to provide end-to-end solutions.
- Identify and communicate risks and impacts, considering business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
- Advise or coach to new or lower-level analysts and work as a team member to achieve business objectives, performing other duties and functions as assigned.
- Program/Project Management - Support and meet Business Critical Milestone Reporting process and various other executive/ risk/data management reporting processes. Ensure quality, efficiency and accuracy throughout the reporting process.
- Communication - Work with the team and respective Decision Management leaders on the communication strategy (e.g. town halls, new hire events) for the department and facilitate the development of communication materials and presentations for senior management, including C-level management, the Board of Directors, Operating Committee and other key stakeholders as required
Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in global and complex settings with multiple stake holders
- 6-8 years experience in financial services, risk management
- Demonstrated strong understanding of data governance and management
- Demonstrated strong understanding of risk management (i.e., credit, market, operations, compliance, data, technology, enterprise, etc.)
- Demonstrated strong project management skills to meet deliverables within tight deadlines and high pressure
- Deep understanding of BCBS 239 Risk Reporting
- Prior work experience in area related to analytics and/or strategy consulting
- Ability to work in a team of diverse skill
- Demonstrated strong PowerPoint, Excel expertise
- Demonstrated Agile user story documented
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
