About Mumbai Industry Analytics Group

The Mumbai Industry Analytics Group works with Investment Banking teams globally across a range of tasks covering building materials for capital market (equity offerings and debt issuance), M&A advisory pitches and transactions.

Position Summary

The role involves working on and reviewing juniors work on various Investment Banking analyses including market valuation, financial analysis, impact of a corporate transaction on earnings and other key financial indicators.Associate will be aligned to a specific sector and geography.

Responsibilities 

  • Build thematic pitch-books covering corporate and sector profiles

  • Industry analysis – Research trends and events in economies, sectors and corporates

  • Valuation – Create and update company valuation models

  • Build discussion materials for RFPs and transactions

  • Supervise the team in preparing marketing and transaction materials for client facing bankers

  • Review and ensure quality of assignments done by analysts. Also provide inputs for Analysts performance evaluation

  • Building strong relationship with all the franchises

  • Automation: Review and build up efficiencies in all assignments

  • Contribute towards hiring, training and mentoring staff

These analyses are part of client materials which help IB bankers to advice and service their clients in the areas of M&A, financings and strategic advisory. E.g. For an equity offering, MIAG associates may work with IB teams to build parts of DRHP including Industry analysis, financial valuations, roadshow presentation for marketing the offering company to HNIs and underwriters

Eligibility Criteria & Key Skills Required:-

  • Knowledge and Technical Skills – In-depth understanding of accounting, corporate finance and valuation concepts

  • Good understanding of key trends in the industry

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure

  • Analytical approach with good attention to details

  • Project Management – Delivery of client-ready work product

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)

  • Working in teams – Self-accountability in identifying and acting on development opportunities, promotion of constructive dialogue and sharing of best practices

  • Champions Progress – Proactively works towards innovative idea generation to improve existing approaches

  • Decision Making and Conflict Resolution – Raising right questions and communicating team conflicts with integrity and credibility

  • Risk Management – Ability to recognize and respect confidentiality of information

Education:

  • MBA / CA / Masters in Finance
