UK, Europe and MEA Head of Equities Execution Platform [Cash and Futures]
Citi are looking to hire a UK, Europe and MEA Head of Equities Execution Platform at the Director level to join the highly successful Execution Platform business in London.
This is a senior Director level position responsible for developing, executing and managing a revenue maximizing strategy alongside key sales and trading teams and senior business leaders of the firm globally. The overall objective of this role is to ensure revenue and expense goals are met, top tier product for Equities Electronic Trading developed, governance, controls and limits are established and followed.
As a tier 1 global provider, Citi supports a follow-the-sun service model for global Cash Equities clients across key hubs in New York, London and Hong Kong, with peripheral trading desks spread across a much boarder global geography. Citi Cash Equities business currently supports connectivity between approx. 67+ global markets and 3,000+ clients for a broad range of Execution Services (High Touch, Tow Touch and Program Trading).
Electronic Trading within Citi is a fast-growing area that is making ongoing investment in technology transformation to ensure state of art trading platform, algo engine and OMS. It is our goal to have same technology underpins all three regional trading hubs, and a leading-edge algorithmic platform.
Execution Platform underpins not just Electronic Trading but also execution across all channels.
The successful candidate must possess good equity market microstructure experience and a strong knowledge of the current trading landscape with regulated markets, dark pools and central risk trading. They should be adept at managing complex trading projects, with a knowledge of the front-back architecture of a trading platform from client FIX order entry through to post-trade booking and reporting.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:
Revenue:
- Develop a coordinated strategy with key stakeholders, identifying and implementing revenue maximizing opportunities
- Partner across cash electronic, Futures electronic, cash high touch and program trading teams to ensure client acquisition and optimize cross-sell opportunities
- Ensure revenue and expense goals are met, and budgets and limits are established
- Work with senior stakeholders to monitor market share and the competitive landscape in which firm operates. Propose and deliver products to grow market share
- Own the delivery of top tier market leading electronic product with a commercial goal; work with various functions within the bank to ensure timely and quality delivery
- Partner with Sales across Cash and Delta 1, Client coverage teams on product sales and bring the subject matter expertise to clients and sales process
- Promote the company and the Equity Product specifically, through representation at industry events e.g. conferences, trade publications, company website, direct customer communications etc.
People Management:
- Identify top talent and enhance development, engagement and career opportunities for the team
- Hire and retain talent as part of the team; manage a team of high calibre product managers
Governance, Control and Risk Management:
- Partner with control functions and ensure governance and control infrastructures are in place, advocating for ethics and risk management
- Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
What we will need from you:
- 15+ years of experience in Equities / Electronic Trading with proven track record of delivery
- Excellent understanding of Equities Electronic Business, Clients and its Product Management needs
- Client specific knowledge/ experience (investment style, AUM, trading styles etc.)
- Understanding of Market Microstructure across European Equities Markets
- Ability to analyse / review and work across various functions of the bank - e.g. review existing workflow, identify areas of automation and work with various departments in the bank (technology, operations, risk, compliance etc) to deliver on the automation to maximize straight through processing rates across the various touch points for the order flow
- Broad experience with a range of functional areas such as Quant Research, technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
- Master’s degree from a top tier university in economics, business administration, innovation management, computer science, engineering, finance, mathematics, physics or a related field.
