Several of our sub-ledgers are going through a transformation. These sub ledgers / product processors conduct financial accounting for variety of market products – OTC, Cash Securities and Securitised Trades. These system handles close to 10 million trades across global trading books. These systems are going through extensive overhaul and re-writing of the platform. 

The candidate should be comfortable coding ~25% of their time. Candidate is expected to demonstrate strong delivery background in financial industry, preferably in accounting systems. We expect depth of knowledge in Java stack and breadth of knowledge in modernization of legacy platforms, evolving systems into horizontally scalable architectures using AWS, distributed architectures and databases.  

The candidate is expected to have knowledge of trading, trade life cycle, Pnl calculations & accounting.

Candidate should be willing to drive re-architecture and lead by example. Candidate should be able to work in Kubernetes based deployments in both on-prem and external cloud and deal with variety of build technologies. Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and tools like Camel or Conductor will be valued highly. Candidate should have a track record of establishing engineering practices in their team and beyond in their organisation. Candidate will start with a team of 10 and will have expanded line management responsibilities as the program grows.   

This is a senior role and there will be regular interfacing with senior stakeholders across the bank. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate an established track record of handling senior stakeholders & lead such discussions independently.

Growth opportunities are excellent and in future candidate will have options of choosing between engineering and management tracks. The team you’ll be working with is distributed across 3 countries, has a senior and stable team and work in a collaborative environment. Candidate’s success criteria will be determined by uplifting the engineering quality. Candidate will have access to a vast tool kit both on-prem and cloud to meet complex finance, supervisory and regulatory requirements and the demands of an increasingly electronic business.  

The development position involves:

  • Defining application architecture, changes, develop & scale existing team to drive change
  • Bring best practises on Enterprise integration.
  • Mentor developers in a globally distributed team
  • Ability to establish testing practices in a team
  • Development of high-quality software, emphasizing simplicity, maintainability and reuse
  • Participation in code and design reviews
  • Requirements analysis and capture, working closely with the business and business aligned teams to define solutions
  • Good communication with support, other development and infrastructure teams
  • Contributing to architectural standards, development best practices, and promoting adherence to these standards

Required Skills

• Programming skills – including concurrent, parallel and distributed systems programming

• Demonstrable experience on building data ware house  & caching solutions

• Strong knowledge of Java, Python, Linux & SQL

• Good understanding of Spring Framework and Kafka

• Good understanding of Enterprise integration patterns

• Strong understanding of automating testing

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with Apache Ignite/ Redis or other in memory data solutions  

• Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Groovy, Python, JavaScript, etc.

• Knowledge of HTTP, ReSTful web services and API design

• Messaging technologies

• Camel, Conductor, Cadence

• Familiarity with databases particularly NoSQL e.g. MongoDB, Couchbase, Snowflake, RDBMS.

• Experience with Kubernetes

• Good understanding of the Linux OS
