The Commodities business at CITI has grown significantly in the last 10 years to become one of the leading industry players. It is a federated business model that covers market making across all types of assets including Oil, Gas, Power, Agriculture, Emissions, Metals, Freight, Exotics and Indices.

The Commodities business is always interesting and varied, involving physical assets and enabling economic activities throughout the world. The global political environment in the last 3 years has been challenging for our clients across many of our asset classes, increasing the demand for robust but flexible IT systems which we rely on to transact and manage risk.
Citi are now one of the largest Commodities players in the banking sector, having grown rapidly over the past five years and we have ambitious plans to further develop our Commodities platform. Our technology challenges are therefore fast-moving and varied.
Our Commodities technology team comprises some 350 people across London, Houston, Pune & Singapore. Our IT teams are organised to support the key business operations of Pricing, Risk Management, Trade Lifecycle, Electronic Trading, Market Data and Data Analytics.
What we do
- The team develops and supports a strategic platform which calculates, manages, and stores intra-day and EOD risk data for front office trading using cutting edge technologies
- Our roles offer motivated candidates the chance to engage with our trading, quants and sales teams in an agile way and learn the vital role that risk plays across a wide range of commodities financial and physical products and we offer the chance to gain experience of real-time pricing and risk techniques.
- As the business has expanded in recent years, we have embarked on an ambitions re-engineering program across our application estate. We are retiring legacy applications, modernising and rationalising our technology stack in order to provide quicker time to market for new products and faster trading capability in a market increasingly delineated by technology capability.
Key responsibilities:
This London role report to the Commodities Risk Technology Lead.
- Risk Data Presentation / UI :
- Establish and develop a consistent UI strategy and user experience across Commodities Risk applications.
- Interface across Commodities IT and Markets IT to ensure usage of strategic tools for hosting the Risk application UI on ECS and Citi Desktop.
- Maintain active relationships and book of work with the FO users globally, centred in London.
- Risk Data Analysis Tools :
- Develop and implement regulatory detective risk controls.
- Develop and implement FO tools for managing and interrogating intraday and historical risk.
- QA Testing :
- Maintain and develop a comprehensive testing approach particularly supporting the user experience and numbers regression testing.
- Risk & Controls:
- Maintain a forward looking , predictive and pro-active control framework that more than meets the evolving regulatory and internal audit requirements.
- Drive and implement a strategic approach for user roles and permissions with secure access to risk data both externally and within the Risk applications.
Skills / experience:
- Extensive demonstrated technology leadership on Investment banking risk systems (preferably Commodities Risk).
- Proven track record working closely with senior business partners.
- .NET , REACT and Python hands on experience.
- Experience running / creating an agile methodology .
- Experience with key QA testing tools and methodologies.
