Job Overview:

The Sr. Private Platform Infrastructure Engineer role is one of the key roles that exist on the team. In this role, you will be part of the global VMware Engineering team responsible for end-to-end solutions engineering and certification for virtualization products supporting our internal private cloud.

The position reports to the CTI Global Virtualization Infrastructure manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for solutions regarding ESXi server builds and maintenance, Hypervisor, Virtual Center and cluster configuration, loading standard VMware packages, VMware platform version migrations, and assisting to troubleshoot issues for the entire Virtualization infrastructure when necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the private platform services teams responsible for performing systems and application monitoring, capacity planning, and systems tests to ensure products meet requirements

• Evaluate products, develop prototypes, contribute to design initiatives, and assist with implementation where required

• Work with various cross functional infrastructure teams to identify and resolve problems

• Consult with end users and clients to identify and correct systems problems or propose solutions

• Assist in the development of software and systems tools used by integration teams to create end user packages

• Provide support for operating systems and in-house applications, including third party applications, as needed

• Perform coding, analysis, testing or other appropriate functions in order to identify problems and propose solutions

• Adhere to Citi technology standards, audit requirements and corporate compliance issues and requirements

• Apply knowledge of engineering procedures and concepts and basic knowledge of other technical areas to day to day activities

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of progressively advancing experience in large-scale, enterprise class roles supporting private cloud IT infrastructure

• Strong scripting skills are required to meet scalability requirements including but not limited to PowerCLI and Ansible

• Current expertise in Deployment, Configuration, LifeCycle Management of VMware related products including the VMware Cloud Foundations stack consisting of but not limited to vCenter, ESXi, VCF Operations, VCF Automation, and VMware Aria Suite of products

• Expert design, implementation, and support experience with Nutanix Prism Central, AHV, AOS and other on-prem hypervisor technologies

• Experience in public cloud solutions such as Google, Azure, AWS are a plus

• Proficiency with server hardware including modern Dell and HP platforms, GPUs, and Network Interface Cards/Drivers

• Familiarity working in Financial Services or other large, complex and/or global environments required

• Possess soft skills interfacing with project management, project planning, and writing technical documentation

• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting metrics to maintain compliance with best practices

• Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills with ability to promptly reach resolutions to hardware, software, networking, or storage related issues

• Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with offshore virtual teams

• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiatives

• Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
