Tax Sr. Analyst - C12 - Hybrid
The Tax Sr. Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
- Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
- Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
- May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
- Resolves complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines or processes.
- Manages one or more processes, reports, procedures or products, and considered analytical or procedural "expert" representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverables.
- Directs day-to-day work of junior level employees.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Position also consists of carrying out tax compliance and tax accounting functions including provisions calculation, preparation and filing of tax returns and payments including income and non-income taxes, VAT, withholding taxes, and related accounting matters (provision, current and deferred, account reconciliation interacting with e-Recon, tax rate analysis, etc.) for countries covered by the LATAM Tax Centralization Unit (TCU).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
- Contribute to the elimination of EUC-like tools replacing them for more secure tools and that allow a higher level of automation of tax calculation to improve efficiency.
- Project Management support of business risk and control oversight and other large global strategic initiatives.
- Management reporting of business intelligence and other key Investments initiatives
- Data Collection and evaluation
- Design and provide day-to-day support to management in the form of ad hoc analysis stretch assignments as needed.
- Coordinating work streams that focus on data, technology, product initiatives
- Assembly, development and structuring of presentation decks.
- Development and management of strategic solutions for a group under rapid development and offers exposure to senior management and positions the successful candidate for progression within the group or to a position inside one of other organizations depending on experience

- Preparation and filing of tax returns and payments including income and non-income taxes, VAT, withholding taxes, and related accounting matters (provision, current and deferred, account reconciliation interacting with e-Recon, tax rate analysis, etc.) for countries covered by the LATAM Tax Centralization Unit (TCU).
- Monthly current and deferred tax liability calculation, basing on data provided by Finance and its verification, journal posting.
- Reconciliation of the tax balances on the ledger & effective tax rate analysis.
- Tax reporting for internal purposes.
- Provisions calculation
- Interaction with different stakeholders in the related countries and the region in functions like Finance, Operations, Businesses, plus external counsels hired to assist in tax compliance matters, plus with Corporate Tax New York as well as with Regional Finance representatives.
Knowledge / Experience
- Graduate in Economics/Finance/Accounting/Bussines Administration
- Daily work in international environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel.
- Knowledge of financial sector accounting and systems would be an advantage.
- 7 -10 years relevant experience
- Required skills include project management, quantitative aptitude, and the ability to effectively synthesize and communicate complex business issues through concise presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to oversee cross disciplinary work streams.
- Extensive project management and strategic analysis experience.
- Interest and experience in the financial services industry, in the areas of technology and data mining.
- Able to demonstrate experience of suggesting pragmatic solutions to problems and conclude where appropriate.
- Demonstrate experience of working to multiple deadlines.
- Be able to work unsupervised on day-to-day responsibilities.
