Job Description
Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) is a global line of business at Citigroup that provides commercial banking services to mid-sized companies. CCB has operations in more 25 countries.
CCB Western Europe Cluster will be a fast growth business with vision to significantly scale up over the first five years and beyond. There must be sufficient capacity in the Risk management team to face this growth and be able to maintain the health of the portfolio, where approval is one of the primary roles to support the Business.
The successful candidate will be directly responsible for the portfolio management and credit approvals mainly in Germany as well as other Western Europe countries, reporting directly to CCB Western Europe Risk Head based in Stockholm.
The Senior Credit Risk Officer is a strategic professional who will be exercising sound credit judgment to ensure prudent risk decision consistent with the Citi’s risk appetite and the balanced objectives of protecting the bank and enabling sustainably profitable business.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Western Europe Risk team in Citi Commercial Bank, fast growing business providing services to mid-sized companies.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic professional who will undertake quality judgmental lending including exercising delegated approval authority to ensure that good business opportunities are not lost yet safeguarding the business interests of the Bank.
- Responsible for critical assessment, recommendation and approval of credit proposals incorporating financial analysis, risk assessment and credit structure.
- Oversee deal approvals including timing of approvals and turnaround in collaboration with business partners.
- Keep abreast with latest industry and sector developments and apply them meaningfully in credit assessment.
- Supplement analysis with research and evaluations from a wide variety of sources to develop an assessment of client, competitor/ industry risks and trends for senior management.
- Proactive involvement in active risk management through monitoring an assigned credit portfolio with a thorough understanding of the content and aggregate risks within the portfolio, trends and other key statistics.
- Assist in the development of appropriate procedures around approvals, underwriting, and portfolio functions such as lending, early warning, derivatives, collateral, remedial management etc.in consultation with senior business leaders.
- Participate in any ad-hoc projects with meaningful contribution.

Qualifications:
- Minimum BA/BS degree, Master’s degree preferred
- Senior Credit Officer or Senior Credit Officer candidate
- Fluent in written and spoken English, German (preferred)
- Knowledge of EBA Guidelines (desirable) or strong understanding of risk management principles.
- 15 or more years of credit approval experience within Commercial /Mid Corporate Banking domain.
- Industry specialisation and product knowledge will be beneficial.
- German market knowledge and experience preferable
- Excellent credit and analytical skills, knowledge of credit products & derivatives in the commercial/corporate lending space.
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level and occasionally with external customers.
- Sound decision making while able to agreeably present another viewpoint.
