Team/Role Overview
Citigroup’s Legal Entity & Booking Model Governance (LE & BM) Team governs Citi’s legal entity structure and how Citi organises and utilises its legal entities across its global footprint. The LE & BM Team is comprised of the Legal Entity Governance and Booking Model Management teams.
The Legal Entity Governance team is responsible for legal entity rationalisation and management with ownership of Citi’s global legal entity structure. The team enforces Citi’s Legal Entity Rationalisation framework to ensure Citi’s legal entities are resolvable and efficient, as required by Resolution Plan guidance, and to maintain legal entity information to support Citi’s regulatory and financial reporting. The team owns processes, controls, data, and systems related to the lifecycle of all of Citi’s legal entities. To support Citi’s Recovery and Resolution Planning, the team ensures Citi maintains a resolvable and efficient legal entity structure through simplification and optimisation efforts and coordinates a Virtual Data Room process which collects documents to support Citi’s resolution capabilities.
The Booking Model Management team (BMMT) is responsible for oversight of the booking practices of Citi’s businesses and Material Legal Entities (MLEs), and owns Citi’s Booking Model Framework, required by Resolution Plan guidance and other global regulations. BMMT enforces documentation of booking practices and implementation of controls within Business and entities. BMMT focuses on enforcing and monitoring Citi’s end-to-end booking practices through a global framework and policy that governs all products and MLEs. The framework requires that businesses follow the requirements of Citi’s Booking Model Policy for the design of their booking practices, validate that proposed booking practices comply with a set of principles, apply appropriate execution controls to ensure compliance by utilising Citi’s governance framework for controls, monitoring, and escalation.
What you’ll do
This role reports to the Head of Legal Entity and Booking Model Governance and will be responsible for managing governance implementation, framework enforcement, and controls oversight, as well as other initiatives. This role will partner extensively with senior management across functions, businesses, clusters, second line of defence and enterprise functions to provide decision support, governance, analytics, and optimisation to drive processes and controls.
- Ensuring all aspects of legal entity and booking model management are considered and implemented within the team’s governance frameworks, and reacting when the underlying activities change.
- Lead and participate in processes and initiatives regarding legal entity and booking model governance, legal entity simplification and optimisation, and oversight of the Legal Entity and Booking Model policies and standards.
- Assess and incorporate changing business, regulatory and market information into processes and applications
- Partner with business lines to aggregate, synthesise, and analyse global booking practices to ensure they remain correctly documented and controls.
- Coordinating the booking practices documentation process for business lines and legal entities and carrying out review and challenge.
- Monitor effectiveness and appropriateness of business and function controls and continue to drive for improvement.
- Participation in the governance process for Citi legal entities including production, review, approval and presentation of updates to legal entity executive management.
- Partnering with stakeholders to monitor effectiveness of booking model principles and continue to drive for improvement.
- Support Citi’s Recovery and Resolution planning efforts to meet regulatory expectations by strategically partnering with other functions, accountable executives, and the central recovery and resolution team.
- Supporting the team with data gathering, analytics and insight generation, to create high quality analytics for Booking Model, including booking pattern monitoring process and follow up with business for escalations.
- Participating in and contribute to the senior management forums and other committees.
- Lead and support regulatory and other senior management engagement with respect to the Global Booking Model framework.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders to plan, coordinate, monitor and execute on strategic team and firmwide initiatives
- Liaison for Citi's Internal Audit and regulatory requests, coordinating deliverables and managing meetings with audit teams and stakeholders.
What we’ll need from you
- Experience in the financial services industry: Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- Experience communicating with and presenting to senior managers and executive committee members.
- Knowledge of Citi’s legal entity structure, business lines and products, particularly in capital markets and wholesale products.
- Proven experience partnering with multiple stakeholders to drive the design and implementation of new and enhanced processes and controls.
- Experience communicating with and presenting to global regulators.
- The individual must be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal, communication, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task with proven ability to distil complex ideas into simple messages.
- Ability to apply independent judgment to historical practices and complex situations, and have the ability and willingness to effectively challenge the status quo.
- A self-starter with the ability to independently manage work and drive multiple deliverables concurrently.
- Experience with process re-engineering or process improvement.
- Ability to quickly create and deliver concise, informative executive summaries for direct and senior management.
- Experience leading effective calls and meetings, occasionally at times conducive to Citi personnel in other global regions.
- Frequently involved with and balancing a variety of broad based and complex issues requiring conceptual thinking.
- Highly proficient in influencing and communicating effectively, both written and verbal, across Citi functions and clusters. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate to and comprehend others.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or related field.
