Team/Role Overview

The Operational Risk Assurance teams supports the Global Operational Risk function by defining and maintaining Methodologies, Frameworks for undertaking Credible Challenge of 1 LoD (across all business, operational risks categories within Citi). The team additionally oversee the execution of the Challenges undertaken by ORM function and also undertakes Quality Assurance over ORM’s own activities. As part of the Operational Risk Management Independent Assurance team you support the management of a portfolio of challenge methodologies, ensuring alignment with activities conducted by Operational Risk Management's second line of defense. This involves establishing routines, practices, capabilities, and minimum requirements for independent challenge execution. The role also includes supporting the development and tracking of the annual Operational Risk Management plan for discretionary Risk Reviews. This encompasses reporting progress, identifying roadblocks, and overseeing planning activities. Additionally, the Lead will support risk assessments and analysis, contribute to identifying and evaluating operational risks, and provide challenge on new/existing ORM procedural requirements to ensure adherence to established methodologies. The goal is to embed practices across Operational Risk Management that are Repeatable, Traceable, and Verifiable.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with managing a portfolio of challenge methodologies aligned to the activities conducted by Operational Risk Management in their role as second line of defense. The methodologies set the routines, practices, capabilities and minimum requirements used in the performance of independent challenge
  • Support the development of the global Operational Risk Management annual plan related to discretionary Risk Reviews. Track the progress of the annual plan, reporting any delays or roadblocks to relevant stakeholders. Assist with oversight of planning activities and decisions, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders
  • Help the execution of risk assessments and analysis, collecting data, and contributing to the identification and evaluation of operational risks.
  • Provide challenge on new/existing ORM procedural requirements for adherence to established methodologies to embed practices across Operational Risk Management that are Repeatable, Traceable and Verifiable.
  • Manage program documentation and records for Operational Risk Management Challenge methodologies for accuracy and accessibility to relevant stakeholders.
  • Gather input from Operational Risk stakeholders across program and coverage teams to identify potential gaps in routines and practices for challenge activities.
  • Develop and maintain supporting materials for the ORM Independent Assurance program, such as presentations, training guides.
  • Act as a point of contact for ORM on the existing methodologies and tools available to support Independent Challenge framework and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Aid with the coordination of assigned ORM QA activities through the centralized QA operating model.

What we’ll need from you

  • Experience in Operational Risk, Compliance or Internal Audit and in build, implementation and/or execution of Quality Assurance, 2LoD Reviews or Internal Audit would be desirable.
  • Expertise in one or more specific operational risk sub-categories would be desirable
  • Good command in both written and spoken communications
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and follow through to achieve project goals.
  • Understanding of industry standards and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to exchange complex and sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver quality work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ethical judgment in decision-making and personal conduct.
  • Bachelor's/University degree
