The Risk Policy Officer is a strategic professional who will drive the effective management and transformation of the Collections and Recovery Risk Portfolio Control environment applying their “hands on” analytic skills, technical acumen, and strategic thinking abilities. The role focuses on leading control enhancements including preventive and detective controls as well as leading corrective action plans, investigations, and remediation. This role provides the opportunity to influence senior leaders, strategic focus, and key priorities. In addition, this role requires the technical acumen to work with data warehouses (EDW), mainframe data sources/system of record data (e.g., Accounts Receivables, Collections) and,

The Risk Policy Officer must have a strong results focus, creative problem solving skills, an analytic mindset, solid communication abilities and influencing skills.


Core responsibilities for the role include:

  • Drive continuous improvement in the control environment including prevention, detection, validation, and remediation.
  • Validate, investigate, size and remediate potential controls concerns. This includes opening corrective action plans (CAPs) and requesting
  • Partner with Operations & QA teams to build and validate control MIS (e.g., daily exception reports, control monitoring reports) (i.e., make sure that, if accounts qualify/do not qualify for re-age, forbearance or settlements, the account has the correct eligibility flags, ).
  • Validate preventive and detective monitoring for comprehensiveness and accuracy. Identify new control & monitoring needs.
  • Provide support for regulatory exams, audits and reviews.
  • Collaborate with other Collections Risk teams, Operations, CBORC (Operational Risk), Compliance, Legal, in-business Risk, Independent Risk, IT and other functions.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. MBA/MS preferred.
  • 5+ years of analytics or strategy consulting experience.  Previous credit, strategy, risk management, operation risk management, or decision management experience especially experience is preferred. Collections or Recovery experience is a plus.
  • Strong prior experience and technical skills using SAS/SQL/Teradata/Oracle in a UNIX environment. Data warehouse and mainframe experience is a strongly desired.
  • Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic and financial acumen.

  • Highly ethical and with integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Effective listening skills
  • Candidates must have effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating Risks issues, strength in sustaining autonomous views
  • Able to work across levels in risk management and also with other operations and business teams
  • Excellent Presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and adapting style as necessary
  • Able to identify and influence key decision makers across various levels and functions within the organization
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing external environment and support business in a highly competitive and challenging market


  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
