Joining the team, you will support the management of Risk Appetite Framework within Citi North America Cards business. The Risk Appetite Framework is the articulation of the aggregate level and types of risk that a financial institution is willing to accept, or to avoid. A successful contributor must ensure that the business operates following principles of responsible finance and using a set of policies and standards, metrics, tools and processes, controls, and governance forums specific to credit risk.

The Risk Appetite Framework is a core component of the Risk Governance Framework and compliance with OCC Heightened Standards. The Risk Appetite function is responsible for the Risk Appetite statement that articulates the space in which the Business wants to acquire accounts or additional exposure supported by guardrails, triggers and Key Performance Indicators defining the targeted portfolio risk and returns.

You will be accountable for building advanced analytics across all portfolios while supporting the design and automation of key reports and MIS.  You will have full responsibility for core reporting processes and will collaborate with the policy teams to ensure the output is accurate.  This role requires an individual with several years of credit risk management experience, strong statistical and data analysis skills, technical SAS skills, an ability to derive analytical solutions based on business knowledge and objective judgment of the balance between risk and reward. You will have the ability to demonstrate leverage credit risk data and business acumen to observe key trends / threats / inaccuracies; drivers of those observations; and communicate those observations to ensure consistency and compliance with global credit policies. It is critical to demonstrate the ability to manage initiatives across cross-functional units in a matrix organization.

You’re Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify key risks, develop risk tolerance metrics and thresholds that could compromise risk appetite of the bank, monitor them monthly

  • Developed and monitored risk tolerance metrics, perform in-depth analysis on cards portfolio performance and present key findings and recommendations to management

  • Provide the Business with indications of credit quality on individual vintages, are at the heart of all Credit Risk Appetite Frameworks and appropriate benchmarks must be in place across the credit life cycle

  • Uses advanced SAS Analytics to device the code and modify the triggers, identify emerging trends, and evaluate customer behavior and patterns

  • Provide analytical assessment linking credit risk/portfolio performance with Capital consumption. In depth understanding of credit risk cycle

  • Values-based interpretation of RWA output with in-depth understanding of Basel model dynamics and metrics (PD, LGD, EAD, etc.)

  • Prepare executive presentations as part of Regulatory decks and senior management committees

  • Contributes to the analysis and preparation of reports including but not limited to: portfolio concentrations, limit exceptions, stress testing, loss reserves or high-risk exposures

  • Participates in preparing regular and time-sensitive ad-hoc deliverables to the regulators and senior managements

  • Engages with teams across management Reporting to understand current Reporting deliverables

  • Conducts process reviews to ensure Reporting processes are efficient and lean.

  • Trains new team members in standard methodologies and tools

  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision

  • Acts as Risk Appetite SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of financial services experience in analytic role is required. Private Label Credit experience preferred

  • Proficient SAS/SQL programming skills and advanced spreadsheet skills.

  • Experience leading/mentoring junior analysts and/or contractors preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience using statistical procedures, segmentation, and financial analytic tools is a differential

  • Understanding of consumer credit risk management and Credit Card Profit & Loss Drivers preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering. Master’s degree preferred
