SVP, Head of Credit Strategy for Open Market Unsecured Lending - Hybrid
Head of credit strategy for open to market personal installment loans at Citi. A senior management-level position responsible for managing credit losses and profitability through sophisticated and best in class credit, pricing and loan assignment strategies. This role will manage end-to-end engagements from conception to analytics and subsequent rollout.
As a lead of the credit risk management team, you will be responsible for managing and crafting risk strategies along with developing and tracking appropriate metrics. As a part of the in-business risk policy team, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional set up working closely with product, finance, marketing and independent risk partners.
This role will also require you to own and deliver on a roadmap to bring best in class credit and underwriting practices for personal installment lending and contribute to fulfill Citi’s aspirations in gaining market share in this business.
Looking for high energy individual who can lead a team of credit analysts to accomplish Citi’s growth goals in unsecured loans and make contributions at-scale.
Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a team of risk analysts and manage critical and large professional disciplinary areas
Use analytical techniques to mine loan performance data and identify pockets of underperformance and conduct root cause analysis to help recommend risk mitigation strategies
Develop, implement and handle credit risk strategies that involve elements of credit underwriting, risk based pricing, loan amount assignment and verification based on an estimation of probability of default
Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Legal to drive new projects including new product launch, enhanced tech capabilities, improving business profitability to mention a few
Develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods to identify underserved segments within risk appetite boundaries and prepare the test data for processing by organizing information, checking for any inaccuracies, and adjusting / weighting the raw test results to design credit policies while balancing risk and return
Communicate policy changes and test recommendations, program approvals, performance trends with business partners, senior management and external regulators
Communicate clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audience
Leverage probabilities, distributions and decision trees to perform risk, financial and data analyses including profiling, performance, forecasting and new program due diligence
Establish and leverage cross-functional partnerships and network with key internal partners (Product, Marketing, Governance, Execution and Decision Management)
Drive agenda through influence by preparing risk management presentations for senior management that include analytics on expected portfolio performance and areas of potential risk and/or opportunity
Expand existing set of data used in credit decisioning process by evaluating information; value of non-traditional data sources and by re-engineering use of existing data elements;
Work closely with technology teams to ensure new strategies are implemented accurately and as designed.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field (e.g., Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, etc.) from an accredited college or university, preferred.
Master's degree preferred
Qualifications:
8+ years of credit risk management experience, financial services or FinTech industry experience preferred.
8+ years of experience leveraging large, complex datasets for driving business decisions.
Experience in the financial services industry and experience with unsecured loans or credit cards. Installment loans experience is a plus
Comprehensive knowledge of consumer credit risk trends and first party and third-party fraud risks.
Experience with analytical or data management tools (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, Tableau, Python, Excel and PowerPoint)
Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency
Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audience
Experience of leading teams to deliver high productivity output. Mentoring and grooming junior talent to improve the overall productivity of the team and individuals
