About the Department
Developer Engineering is a new function within ICG Technology. Our mission is to make it easy and enjoyable for development teams to go from a business idea to delivery of an innovative production solution. This will be done by improving and upgrading our tools, streamlining our processes, automating and strengthening our controls, and helping development teams adopt modern ways of working.
This new initiative represents a key investment in our future development capability. We are assembling an expert team to transform the working environment of the 18,000 people who make up the ICG development community and help them dramatically change their approach to developing software across the many different technologies we support. This is a challenging remit, but with the scale and variety comes a unique opportunity to be agents of cultural and technical change who have a huge impact on the bank.
About the Role
Release On Demand (ROD) is a software tool that was built as part of the 2019 E4 Engineering Excellence program that is designed make it easier for teams to release smaller and more frequently to production. It does this by lowering the current procedural barriers and making raising changes easier by automation and upfront quality gates to improve standards.
ROD is an opinionated software tool designed to make it trivial to generate production run books & ServiceNow Changes with the click of a button – It has to date generated nearly 1500 production deployments in a short time and has approximately 35 teams and a strong pipeline of teams onboarding
ROD is a central component in the drive towards CI/CD and sits with the family of DevOps tools like Lightspeed within Developer Engineering.
To enable the success of the platform to continue and allow the onboarding of more teams a skilled and passionate developer team intimate with Agile/DevOps and modern deployment practices is needed to enhance the application feature set.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and be a key part of an efficient agile delivery team that extends the ROD feature set and takes care to ensure the backlog of requested features is groomed and prioritized for delivery in order
- Ensure a well-defined delivery process is established and followed and a culture of continuous improvement is implemented
- Provide leadership and coaching where required to less experienced members of the team, supporting a continuous improvement team mindset at all times
- Ensure a first line of support is provided to all ROD customers and potential customers supporting onboarding where required
- Establish key relationships with PMO & Change Management and ensure the great work done to date continues
- Contribute to the feature set direction by understanding the cultural change & CI/CD approach being driven by Developer Engineering and understanding how ROD fits within the wider landscape such as Lightspeed & Pipeline Factory
- Look for further automation and simplification opportunities that arise with the Citi landscape

Experience:
- Experienced front to back developer with experience of Java/Kotlin & VueJS/Angular/React
- Proven track record of working with a delivery focussed agile team
- Superbly knowledgeable Agile practitioner, with real-world experience and a highly disciplined approach
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and the underlying technologies used at Citi
- Ideally (but not absolutely required), experience of working in and/or running development teams in a banking environment

- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
