Responsibilities
Citi Custody is responsible for the safekeeping and servicing of equity assets of our clients. Being a custodian bank, we facilitate the settlement process of our client’s securities transactions, manage and process corporate actions as announced by the issuers of these securities, and assist our clients with capital gains tax payment and reclamation. Transaction Processing Department is at the forefront of our Custody service, as it ensures that the clients’ settlement instructions are appropriately received and screened against sanctions lists, which in turn allows them to settle in the market that we will promptly reflect on the clients’ accounts. As Custody offering is a global product, we will also provide for our client FX services to enable them trade securities across the globe, as well as support them in their derivates trading through margin calculation and payment.
Our Sanctions team is currently looking to fill a subject matter expert Supervisor role. The team makes up the very first step of the entire custody transaction processing. As Citi is required to adhere to US and non-US financial sanctions – both as a bank itself, but also on behalf of its clients – it needs to ensure no securities transaction is any violation of these sanction regimes. Therefore, every incoming securities settlement instruction is automatically screened against global, regional, and domestic sanctions lists, while it is the responsibility of our Sanctions team to investigate any potential matches identified and assess whether the particular trade is permissible or not – protecting Citi and its clients from financial, reputational, and business risks associated with not complying with international sanctions.
Prospective candidates should:
Have 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in sanctions screening, custody, security services, or banking – knowledge of SWIFT messages will be an advantage,
Be acutely aware of all the major events in the world,
Have a good understanding of the current geopolitical situations in various regions - knowledge of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) guidelines and policies will be an advantage,
Have a good command of English (B2/C1),
Be diligent and organized analytical thinkers,having an eye for detail, and no strangers to multitasking,
Be able to proactively prioritize their tasks,
Be prepared to work in a high volume, time sensitive environment,
Be prepared to build long lasting contact networks within the organization,
Think outside the box,
Be able to learn from own mistakes,
Bewell acquainted with MS Excel (vlookup, pivot tables – VBA will be an advantage).
