The role is for an attorney who will support the Global Trade business.  The attorney will advise business units regarding various aspects of the Trade business, including the structuring of trade transactions and related issues.  The attorney will also be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating the documentation associated with those transactions. 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include advising business units on a broad range of global trade related transactions, including accounts receivable financing, supplier finance, import/export financing, draft discounting, letter of credit transactions, and trade service transactions.  Responsibilities also include providing advice regarding Trade product structures and documentation and advising Citi business units, branches, subsidiaries and affiliates located outside the US regarding relevant matters of New York law. The attorney will also work with Citi control functions such as Regulatory, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Tax on issues affecting the Trade business and will work on regional and global projects and initiatives.  In addition, the attorney will be responsible for coordinating with Citi internal counsel outside the US on global issues.  The attorney will be expected to be familiar with laws and customary practices applicable to the relevant businesses including the Uniform Commercial Code, ISP 98 and UCP. 

Qualifications:

  • JD and license to practice law in at least one US state (New York or Florida is preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience with global trade related products and transactions, secured lending and transactional experience at a major law firm or financial institution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws and practices, including with respect to cross border transactions and the corresponding legal implications
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
