Serves as a function/business/product compliance risk senior analyst for Consumer Fairness within Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) responsible for assisting with internal strategies, policies, procedures, processes, and programs to prevent violations of law, rule, or regulation and design and deliver a risk management framework that maintains risk levels within the firm's risk appetite and protect the franchise. In addition, engages with the ICRM Product and Function coverage teams, in order to partner to develop and apply CRM program solutions that meet the function/business/product and customer needs in a manner consistent with the Citi program framework.

Primary responsibilities include monitoring compliance risk behaviors and providing day-to-day Compliance advice relating to the supported function/business/product and guidance on function/business/product rules/laws.  Specifically, this role is responsible for helping with the statistical evaluation of models to ensure compliance with fair lending laws. The candidate will be required to assist members of the fair lending analytics team in statistical analysis related to various financial products, focusing on the fair lending aspect, in order to identify and measure Citi’s exposure to fair lending risk.

The candidate will be a key member of the Fair Lending Analytics ICRM team, which has analytical responsibility for the enterprise-wide fair lending ICRM program that spans across Citi’s US lending businesses


    • Assisting in the design, development, delivery and maintenance of best-in-class Compliance, programs, policies and practices for ICRM with a particular focus on the review of statistical models and statistical analysis needed to support compliance with Fair Lending laws;
    • Follow implemented in-house processes for model evaluation including AI/ML models from a fair lending perspective, data assessment and alternative model validation determine any limitations on reliability or usability
    • Document details regarding analysis, reviews, methodology and discussions held with the business
    • Develop code to ensure proper calculations of disparate impact
    • Assist with regulatory inquiries and/or examinations.
    • Prepare and present statistical results and data sets for analysis in support of regulatory requests and examinations.   Work with examiners and business units to resolve any questions related to analytical methodology or data integrity.
    • Collaborating with other internal areas including: Legal, Business Management, Operations, Technology, Finance, other Control Functions, and In-Business Risk to address compliance issues which may impact the supported function/business/product.
    • Document details regarding analysis, reviews, methodology and discussions held with the business
    • Supporting the business in performing timely compliance reviews of new transactions and/or products.
    • Assisting in the development and administration of Compliance training for the supported function/business/product.
    • Develop and deepen Subject Matter Expertise in large Fair Lending and Fairness topics as well as in specific Fair Lending Assessment field through internal, external and on-the-job training.
    • Conduct training for model developers with regard to calculation of disparate impact and conducting alternative analysis.
    • Researching any rules and rule changes and implementing policies, procedures or other controls necessary to comply with the rules/regulations
    • Advise the business units, regulatory examiners, and other interested parties on quantitative methods and analysis, and present results in the form of articles, reports, or presentations.

    • Special projects assigned at the direction of the direct manager or Head of Fair Lending Assessment ICRM.
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


    • Working Knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologies in the supported function/business/product
    • Knowledge and experience working with Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Models.
    • Knowledge and hands-on experience in advance programming using: SAS /  R, Python and SQL for basic data mining; additional experience and knowledge of Big Data tools preferred
    • Direct experience in fair lending modeling and analytics strongly preferred.
    • Fair Lending knowledge and experience highly preferred
    • Knowledge of banking products (Credit Cards, Mortgage, Personal Loans) and regulatory requirements including ECOA, Reg B and FHA highly preferred
    • In-depth knowledge and understanding, and demonstrated experience working with: logistic regression model development, univariate and multivariable statistics, sampling designs, disparities analysis
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of the organization
    • Work collaboratively with regional and global partners in other functional units; ability to navigate a complex organization
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time
    • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge in area of focus
    • Relevant certifications desirable


    • Bachelor’s degree; experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof; experience in area of focus; Advanced degree a plus
    • Degree in highly quantitative field, such as data science, applied economics, applied statistics, mathematics, or physics preferred
    • Master / Ph.D. or equivalent in highly quantitative field, such as data science, applied economics, applied statistics, mathematics, or physics preferred
