Senior Product Manager Coles Personal Loans

Strategic Intent:

This role is responsible for providing thought leadership for the Coles Partnership and in particular the Coles branded Personal Loan.  The role will be responsible for the business growth strategy and ultimately be accountable for the execution and day to day management of the Coles PL portfolio ensuring compelling, competitive and sustainable value propositions delivering profitability in the portfolio.


Financial Management:

  • Take ownership of the development, build & launch of the new Coles PL product suite, including the introduction of new digital functionality to support risk based pricing
  • Ownership of the Coles Loans P&L and non-financial metrics to deliver sustainable growth and meet return hurdles of the partnership
  • Review in-depth product profitability and pricing analysis to identify key contributors of revenue, expense and credit losses
  • Define pricing guardrails for acquisition, portfolio and retention activities
  • Lead discussions with Partner on growth & optimisation initiatives and drive towards outcomes supporting growth & profitability of the partnership
  • Track and review P&L performance (financial, growth, operational and customer) to assess opportunities, inform strategic decisions and work with relevant internal & partner teams to facilitate actions as required
  • Collaborate with Acquisition Strategy Manager & Portfolio Lead to
  • identify revenue growth initiatives
  • review current actions and impact to profitability
  • Identify policy improvement opportunities to support growth in activities

Product Management:

  • Lead discussions with Risk in relation to new credit scorecard, credit overlays, credit tests in order to maximise risk/return trade off for the business
  • Develop product strategy in consultation with Partner and continually review product range to ensure a viable range of products are available in market – product rationalisation and repositioning when necessary
  • Develop and maintain best-in class value propositions, product pricing and profitability management, formulating product offers, features and pricing strategies that create market differentiation
  • Lead implementation of key product initiatives - technical or customer enhancements
  • Manage fee and rate pricing strategies and tactical pricing changes
  • Monitor interest income and non-interest income collection activity and develop reactive and pro-active measures to maximise revenue flows
  • Work with risk and credit ops to ensure that acceptance and collections strategies and processes are working to maximise EBIT
  • Create and manage Product Line Strategy through research and Regional benchmarking – develop positioning, define target segment and maintain distinct product value proposition:
  • Customer needs gap analysis within current product suite - to address with development of distinct value proposition or product revamp
  • Customer needs gap analysis on product – to address needs for new product launches
  • Competitor products and market trend analysis
  • Engage with Regional and International Marketing for best practices and product proposition standardisation to leverage further Citi’s global branding
  • Leverage relationship with Visa and MasterCard to enhance product benefits
  • Work with Finance to ensure sustainable cost structure underlies business objectives
  • Key point of contact for customer escalations including presidential and FOS level complaint. Work with Loans team, CAU and Retention to manage Product related customer matters
  • Work closely with  Decision Management and Portfolio lead to develop portfolio analytics/segmentation framework and identify opportunities for profitability optimisation
  • Ensure product and marketing teams are in compliance with internal controls to reduce operational risk and compliance with policies
  • Ensure Citiphone/Telesales are briefed on items related to Product which impact customer experience
  • Work with the broader CL team and cross franchise teams to identify opportunities for CL

Team and Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (Coles, O&T, Credit Ops, Collections, Decision Management, Finance, Telesales & Insurance, Business Development, Customer Experience, Business Solutions and Risk)
  • Ensure collaborative strategy is developed with key stakeholders to drive business results

Qualifications Required:

  • Marketing, Economic and/or Business Degree
  • 7-10 years experience in Financial Services
  • Preference for experience within Unsecured Lending business and specifically Instalment Loans
