The Role

Reporting to the Head of Fraud, the Fraud Operations Analyst is a senior level position responsible for contributing to the development of fraud management policies, processes and procedures to minimize the impact of fraud in coordination with the Operations - Services team. The overall objective of this role is to manage fraud losses by ensuring system parameters are optimized and analysts make appropriate decisions using risk/reward balance methodology.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively work with the Fraud team and stakeholders to create strategies to support fraud monitoring and detection activities
  • Prevent and detect fraud attacks where-ever possible by implementing effective parameters in multiple systems
  • Provide professional analytical expertise relating to fraud prevention and loss control
  • Analyze large and complex data to develop fraud trends, conduct investigative research into losses, and analyze loss type data to determine the nature of fraud patterns
  • Perform complex data validation independently and make recommendations to portfolio manages based on data availability and analysis
  • Resolve varied fraud issues with potentially greater impact, and provide guidance and input to teams to aid process improvement efforts
  • Integrate in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices
  • Conduct analysis and assessments as required to support new/updated product or system developments
  • Create reports related to fraud performance and trends, and provide guidance and advice as required related to fraud and parameter performance
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of services provided, to support own team and closely related teams
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Skills/Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in either a similar role within the fraud and/or financial services industry
  • Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Team & stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work autonomously
  • Proficient with SQL, SAS, Tableau
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of Compliance and Risk Management principles
  • Experience in analyzing large and complex datasets to provide reporting and insights

Education:

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, fraud or risk management is desirable

Citi has entered into an agreement with NAB to acquire its consumer bank in Australia which includes residential mortgages, deposits, and unsecured lending.

The sale is expected to complete in March 2022. As this is a role to work in Citi’s consumer bank, the successful candidate will initially be employed by Citi, but on sale completion, their employment will transfer to a NAB (or) a new entity that will employ Citi’s consumer bank employees, prior to their transfer to NAB.
