The Capital Markets Origination (CMO) group works with our corporate and government clients to develop, structure, and implement financing packages to meet their capital needs. This includes structuring and distributing issuances of equity, debt and hybrid capital products as well as syndicated/leveraged loans and asset-backed/securitized products.

As part of CMO, we are plugged-in to both the short-term dynamics of the market and the long-term strategic vision of investment banking. Our work involves daily interaction with bankers and salespeople, and there is a high level of contact with our clients – to whom we often talk to frequently about the markets and continually look at solutions for them. We work under pressure, with very short deadlines which results in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.

The purpose of this role is to act as a Director within DCM for the origination syndication and execution of on-shore and off-shore Fixed Income transactions.

Syndicate set the price with both the issuer and salesforce. Syndicate liaises with secondary trading and sales as to the pricing. Syndicate has sole responsibility for setting the price for marketing, and advises on how to best execute deal, marketing and pricing.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support Managing Directors in the DCM business both locally and globally
  • Service and market to core clients
  • Take responsibility for Origination and execution for Citi’s clients in the high grade SSA space

·         Exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and resilience to work in a challenging environment; work under pressure on multiple projects

  • Have a high level of involvement in the allocations of transactions and interactions with DCM, sales and clients

·         Ensure the business unit maintains the ethical standards contained in the Citigroup Code of Conduct and Comply with the ethical standards contained in the Citigroup Code of Conduct

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

¨Technical/Specialist skills/competencies

·Healthy familiarity ofinternational bond transactions, and knowledge of Australian and New Zealand client base and activities

·An understanding of bond maths and derivatives

·Strong Excel and Financial modelling skills, including high degree of power point competency

·Good understanding of Fixed Income Analytics

·Experience in using Bloomberg

·Use of Syndicate Direct is helpful

·Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of market information and insights to end clients

·Confident in ability to pitch business to clients, and run transactions

¨Business/Industry knowledge/competencies

·Familiarity with Australian and New Zealand top 200 companies

·Familiar with the SSA business model and global borrowers that can borrow in A$

·Documentation format that is best suited to issue A$

·Existing relationships with key specific debt decision makers at these clients is preferred

·Good interest and knowledge of finance and markets, and which companies and governments that fund in debt capital markets

Qualifications


·Relevant University degree

·5-7 years relevant experience in investment banking or finance industry

·Could come from IB, Chartered Accounting or Legal background
