The RRE Mortgage UW Senior Underwriting Managerd is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project. Position reports to the RRE Underwriting Head.
The primary job duty of the RRE Underwriter is to analyze creditworthiness and approve new residential real estate financing transactions..
Underwrite new residential real estate mortgage/HELOC financings ranging primarily in size from $500M to $5MM, with some larger dollar transactions up to $50MM, for professional services and high net worth customers of Citi Private Bank covering properties in the U.S.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Minimum 15 years relevant work experience in a financial institution
Formal bank credit training or relevant lending or motgage underwriting experience.
Knowledge of high net worth or commercialor real estate lending, relationship management and sales is advantageous
Strong analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Self-directed and self-motivated
Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel). Experience using V-Basic, Excel pivot tables, other database applications preferred.
