Trust Relationship Lead

We are currently hiring a large number of Trust Officers from Assistant Vice President level to Senior Vice President, the level will depend on experience.

The Trust Fiduciary Lead will be a Trust Officer or other senior professional in the relevant Trust Company. Accomplishes results through the management of trust client relationships. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate as well contribute to the objectives of the business. Requires commercial awareness. Communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and external clients. Has responsibility for quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area.

Responsibilities:

  • The Private Bank at Citi (CPB) is part of Citi Global Wealth and offers a wide range of products and solutions, including investment strategies, banking and lending, trust and specialized services.  The Private Bank delivers solutions to help meet the individual, family and business needs of over 10,000 ultra-high net worth clients around the world. The Private Bank is focused on clients with a minimum net worth of $25mm and serves 40% of the world’s billionaires and their families.
  • Cititrust (Jersey) Ltd. is a key trust centre in CPB’s global Trust business, and has been in operation over 50 years.  It administers structures for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia clients of the Private Bank.  CJL and Citibank N.A. Jersey Branch together provide a full wealth management platform in Jersey. 
  • Under supervision of a team leader, this position requires relationship management and oversight of administration of UNHW ongoing fiduciary relationships, which entails working with clients and their Private Bankers to strategize toward the preservation and continued growth of trust assets while achieving their specific trust and estate planning objectives, and introducing clients to a broad range of trust and private banking opportunities.
  • An individual in this role will be expected to manage a book of trust and company accounts, and engage in trust client relationship management which may occasionally include travel. 

In addition, this individual will be expected to:

  • Ensure all accounts are administered efficiently and in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures, legal requirements, governing instruments and with the highest level of client service
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients and their advisors on all trust and company matters
  • Represent the trust business both internally to Bankers and product partners, and externally to ultra high net worth clients, prospects and their advisors
  • Assist with the review of new business opportunities in conjunction with our new business review team and opine on specific trust issues as appropriate
  • Participate in internal audits and external regulatory exams, and in  risk management committees
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation, and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • Existing experience, including experience in trust and company management and administration
  • STEP qualification.  Qualification in law, finance or accounting would be an asset.
  • Proven experience in the trust officer role; and/or strong subject matter expert knowledge and proven technical proficiency in the investment, legal and tax issues relative to trust and/or company management.
  • Strong communication and proven presentation skills.
  • Foreign languages would be an asset

  • Bachelor's/University degree
