Privacy Compliance Services – Senior Data Privacy/ Data Transfer Specialist

Serves as a senior Privacy professional for O&Ts Privacy and Compliance Services (PCS) responsible for establishing/driving internal strategies, act as a SME for special projects involving privacy laws implementation programs and cross border data transfers. The Privacy senior SME will play an important role in the planning and execution of key projects in support of Citi’s global privacy strategy and authoring gap analysis, help define privacy requirements and the translation of regulatory requirements into system enhancements. The SME will also deliver the creation of operational framework, requirements management, implementation of Standard monitoring procedures. The candidate will serve as a partner to stakeholders in the privacy domain and form connections across Citi sectors and functions, facilitating collaboration and bringing people and teams together from multiple external and internal entities and disciplines. The SME will lead and drive operational execution and implementation programs and act as a senior consultant for Citi partners in technology and operational implementations.  

The Senior Privacy Analyst will be part of the Privacy and Compliance Services team, within Operations & Technology Business Risk & Control.  

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Translating PCS privacy and data transfer strategy and goals across Citi’s clients, products and geographies in a succinct and clear manner; provide direction and guidance on the programs. Serves as a subject matter expert on Citi’s Privacy program implementation. To do this successfully, the candidate should have skills in formulating strategy and clear articulation of strategy to stakeholders which require exceptional presentation skills. Deck writing, executive level communication memos and creating high impact visuals must have requirements.     
  • Providing oversight and guidance over the assessment of complex issues, structuring potential solutions, and driving effective resolution with other stakeholders.  
  • Performing complex analyses of comparative data, preparing, and presenting regional and global reports related to compliance risk assessments, and monitoring of compliance related issues.  
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes (privacy, cross border transfers, data security), new regulations and internal policy changes to further identify new key risk areas.  
  • Design and drive strategic plans, technology road map, the coordination of their execution, and the tracking of results.  
  • Employ Citi standard project processes, procedures, and methods for project delivery, including execution of change, dependency, and risk management as part of plan monitoring. Experience in policy writing is a key skill.  
  • Facilitate and drive cross-functional macro level discussion topics with key stakeholders (senior managers) in areas of data privacy/ data protection, Data transfers, information security, outsourcing, operational risk, and third-party management. 
  • Build strong relationships and communication patterns with both central and in-country program sponsors and stakeholders, including Privacy subject matter experts in Legal and the Chief Privacy Office. 
  • Develop identification of data transfer risk and readiness, escalation of privacy-related risks, incidents, and concerns to senior management, and suggest appropriate solutions  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; experience in compliance, Third party risk management, legal or other control-related function in large financial services firms, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof.  Experience in providing legal advisory services and experience with the development and enhancements to financial institutions internal controls preferred. 
  • At least 10 years of experience in following domains: Risk Management, Technology project management, data protection, process improvements using a structured methodology to successfully plan, manage, monitor, and report for multiple concurrent projects spanning broad geographies and organizations  
  • CIPP- IAPP/CIPM/CIPT certification highly desirable. 
  • Must have US work authorization, this position is not sponsoring visas 
  • Exceptional skills in MS Office tools.  

Required/ Must Have Soft Skills: 

  • Highly motivated, flexible, paying strong attention to detail, organized. 
  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills – deck writing, communication memos and gap analysis documents.  
  • Experience and ease in interfacing with Senior Management 
  • Understand complex issues and find actionable solutions; results-oriented; being a “go-getter” and with excellent problem-solving ability.   
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization; to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level 
  • Drive progression of multiple projects through collaboration and leadership. 
  • Influence others and work independently with minimal oversight required. Manage and lead directly/indirectly.
