The Data Steward role will support Independent Retail Credit Risk organization and will ensure that all stakeholders adhere to Citi’s Data Management Policies and maintain alignment with overall Data Governance processes and standards. Data Stewards will act as the key point of contact on all things data and will help run data management activities, prioritize and centrally coordinate tactical and strategic efforts, and maintain up to data documentation for the processes they oversee.


  • Develop a deep understanding of data intensive areas across Independent Credit Risk. They will build and manage process taxonomies by creating current and target state process maps.
  • Align with the Risk Data Governance Office to drive the Data Governance function in their respective areas. Understand and implement all data policies as part of Data Governance. Also understand the Risk data strategy to ensure that all data related work is aligned with that strategy.
  • Ensure that there is a repository of Trusted Sources of data and drive consumption only from those sources.
  • Ensure that Data Quality issues are actively tracked, managed and remediated in a timely manner working with all stakeholders. They will also drive compliance with Data Standards as per policies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with process owners, application owners (data custodians), and data providers through working groups.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


  • 3-6 years experience in program governance and risk management framework with proven success in project execution.
  • Should have Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office – particularly Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), and Word (writing and editing procedural and technical documentation).
  • Good understanding of technology development life cycle and consumer banking products.
  • Project management knowledge and experience working with diverse group of stakeholders to achieve milestones and deadlines and capability to handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Good knowledge of Citi products, risk processes and controls with good understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management framework.
  • Broad understanding of current regulatory environment covering BCBS 239, Part 30 and other regulatory requirements related with data is preferred


  • Bachelor’s/University degree
