The Citi Trust (CT) Wealth Planner partners closely with Private Bankers and other Citi Private Bank (CPB) team members to increase CT revenue by identifying and closing both current and future trust, estate, and insurance opportunities with existing CPB clients and prospects.
A key focus of the role is to develop, deliver and implement customized wealth plans, which include proactive estate planning solutions based upon each client/prospect's individual circumstances. Additionally, the Wealth Planner acts as the sponsor of new business to CT after assessing the suitability of the business for CT and considering fiduciary, legal, and regulatory risk, expected client service levels, administration feasibility, and profitability.
The Wealth Planner Principal is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within wealth planning. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required.
Demonstrates technical expertise and ability to provide guidance on wealth planning matters, including:
· Estate, gift and income tax planning
· Transition event planning
· Business succession issues
· Charitable planning and vehicles
· Insurance planning
Work with Private Bankers to identify prospects and present value propositions offered by fiduciary structures to ultra-high-net-worth clients of CPB.
Attend client meetings with Bankers and participate in presentations and sales pitches
Understand and keep abreast of changes in legislation in order to ascertain how such laws affect tax efficient trust and company structures and insurance established for clients.
Be informed and able to discuss current and historical legal/tax environment in the US.
Evaluate client needs and recommend appropriate fiduciary structures in line with CPB and CT policies and risk parameters.
Identify opportunities to introduce insurance planning.
Achieve assigned revenue and AUM targets.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
5+ years of trust and estate industry experience required
J.D. degree required
Strong knowledge and proven technical proficiency in the investment, legal, and tax issues relative to trust and estate field.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and influence others Excellent verbal and written communication skills Customer service orientation Strong analytical/problem solving skills Ability to multi-task Self-starter with creative problem solving skills.
Competence in working through complex organizations to solve problems and deliver client satisfaction.
