The SVP, Organization Design Advisor is part of the newly formed Organization Design team formed to support Citi’s global transformation efforts and organization simplification agenda.

We are at a pivotal moment of redefinition across our franchise as we transform our risk and control environment to one that is stronger and simpler. The primary focus of this role is to support the evaluation of the current organization structures and shape the design of simpler and more effective future state organization structures.

Organization design is a key strategic lever to realize simplification and clarify accountabilities during large scale change and transformation. This role will work with the HR and business leaders to interpret the organizational implications of their strategic choices, ensuring that the future design of the organization aligns to the group strategy, transformation objectives and to pre-defined principles including size, shape, skill mix and location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of an internal organization design practice focused on aligning the organization structure to the target state strategy
  • Develop design principles and tools for effective organization design based on business need
  • Assess organization complexity and propose solutions for simplification, including effective spans and layers
  • Design and validate implementation of principles around the appropriateness of dual roles and matrix reporting for risk and control roles within the organization
  • Analyze organization structures and make recommendations to drive optimal organization size, shape and skill mix
  • Partner across the organization to deliver effective change management around broad-scale organization changes to roles, responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Lead large organization change efforts, including shifts in roles and responsibilities and right-placement in work
  • Translate existing HR data points into an OD narrative with accompanying insight
  • Understand and articulate gaps between future state OD and current organization structures including alignment of future state organization structure with budget and workforce plans
  • Define metrics to measure traction/ improvement on organization simplification, organization health and organization efficiency

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Practical working knowledge of organization design
  • Knowledge and experience of using organization design specific technologies
  • Analytical insight and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong understanding of change management and the people and communication skills to support change
  • Understanding and experience of best practice organization design including the associated tools and techniques
  • Understanding of the impact of shifts in changes of roles and responsibilities on organization structure
  • Proven experience working on organization design programs in a large scale environment
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programs
  • Ability to develop strategic design principles to inform organization design choices

Skills:

  • High level of analytic capability; driving data driven decisioning through both reading and interpreting data as well as directly analyzing and building reports
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong influencing skills at all levels of the organization, and ability to work in a complex matrix environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships as a trusted partner and work across senior management teams
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • High tolerance for dealing with ambiguity and on-going change
  • Ability and willingness to operate at strategic and practical level
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with high levels of resilience

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Human Resources Management or related discipline
  • 10+ years experience with background in HR, Org. Design, Change Management or Consulting
