Spring by Citi enables digital commerce for institutional clients by providing streamlined access to locally relevant payment methods. Our goal is simple: help customer-centric institutions build seamless experiences that increase sales conversion while mitigating risk. To that end, Spring by Citi brings together varying objectives of corporate treasury, payments and the business, delivering value to each part of their organization. The solution is integrated with wider cash management needs, giving clients single window access to a globally consistent proposition.

The SVP-NAM Product Commercialization Manager will need to be fluent in the intricacies of consumer payments in the U.S. and Canada, including understanding credit/debit card acquiring, mobile wallets, alternate payment methods and traditional banking payment methods.The individual will also gain exposure to capabilities emerging in other regions that ultimately will be made available to Citi's global clients through Citi's existing and new customer interfacing channels.

The individual in the role will have extensive knowledge of the payments landscape and the requirements of ecommerce clients to formulate the correct product strategy.This insight will be critical to identifying and incorporating key value drivers into the product proposition.

The SVP-Product Commercialization Manager will be a key member of the NAM Emerging Receivables and Instant Payments team, part of the broader NAM Payments & Receivables organization. The role will report into the Director, Spring by Citi NAM Product Head.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following areas:

Lead Spring by Citi product commercialization strategy to ensure Citi meets evolving client requirements across both traditional and emerging client segments.

  • Develop the proposition within NAM and globally for our e-commerce solution.
  • Develop client/industry segmentation strategies and go to market commercialization plans.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, implementations and other partners such as client coverage teams to identify opportunities, drive commercialization and win deals.
  • Lead discussions with prospective clients, serving as the internal and external subject matter expert.
  • Empathize with merchant needs and understanding eCommerce buying behavior and buying centers.
  • Communicate client feedback to shape product strategy and roadmap client needs.
  • Help train sales team on emerging payments and receivables solutions.
  • Drive Marketing strategy with Solution Sales, Bankers, Account Managers and Product Sales partners as well as market management team for product set.
  • Conduct competitive and market analyses to develop/optimize go-to-market strategies.
  • Develop "thought leadership" pieces and other external communications to help address client needs, build client loyalty and Citi’s market position.

It requires exceptional influencing skills, which in the most part will come from a maturity of approach and a thorough analysis and understanding of the issues being dealt with. It is a high profile role and the successful candidate will need to be able to perform under the spotlight and work effectively with all levels of management and functions.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge Experience

  • At least 7 years work experience in the payments industry, ideally with a strong understanding of consumer payments, payment gateway technology, APIs, card acquiring, APMs, the global payments landscape and the surrounding ecosystems
  • Experience and understanding of merchants’ current and evolving consumer payment needs, particularly experience pitching to, and working with consumer payments and e-commerce teams of global merchants
  • Appreciation and understanding of evolving consumer payments landscape
  • Payments expertise with ability to design innovative and tailored solutions for clients’ complex consumer payments needs
  • Experience of building and leading product sales specialist organizations
  • Understanding of payments risk dynamics and compliance risk management globally
  • Experience of communicating and inspiring wider commercialization efforts for a new solution set

Skills (what specific technical skills does the individual need and at what level, e.g. specific IT/spreadsheet/analytical/modeling skills)

  • Precise articulation of merchant needs with a talent for communicating complex ideas and concepts in a concise manner
  • Understanding of emerging buying behavior of global merchants, payments landscape and terminology
