Citi Private Bank (CPB) is looking for a dynamic credit professional to join a rapidly growing business segment as Citi recently announced the creation of Citi Global Wealth, unifying wealth management teams in Global Consumer Banking (GCB) and the Institutional Clients Group (ICG). Citi Global Wealth is a single, integrated platform serving clients across the wealth continuum, from the affluent segment to ultra-high net worth clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in underwriting plain-vanilla as well as tailored credit solutions to Private Bank clients with a focus on margin lending.

Job Summary:

  • Credit structuring and underwriting of Margin & Securities-Backed Finance for Citi Private Bank clients in North America.
  • Underwriting will focus principally on securities backed margin

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with CPB US Banker teams and Investment Finance (Lending) Transactors to the initiation and underwrite new margin lines (liquid/diversified collateral) credit transactions. Manage the Private Banker teams’ expectations, set workflow schedules and priorities to ensure timely completion of credit transactions within standard turnaround timeframes.
  • Conduct due diligence, follow standard underwriting guidelines within the framework of CPB Risk Core Credit Policies and procedures and the Global margin lending product program (including KYC review, risk rating and collateral analysis, etc.).
  • Prepare standard loan documentation and arrange with the banker teams and their clients to have loan documents executed.
  • Coach and advise banker teams on basic credit policies, procedures, and product structure.
  • Partner effectively with other product specialty teams: Capital Markets Desk and documentation group, Loan Operations, Trust, etc.
  • Manage deal pipeline database, coordinate accurate MIS within the Lending Team.
  • Comply with all Fair Lending and other federal banking regulations, including proper notification standards and disclosure rules under ECOA/Regulation B.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Must have thorough knowledge and experience underwriting Marketable securities backed lending.
  • Experience and working knowledge of standard securities backed loan documentation.
  • Familiar with Federal Banking Regulations, including Fair Lending regulations (ECOA, Reg O, Reg U, Reg W, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
  • Good working knowledge of systems/MIS such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, standard credit databases.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with bankers, internal peers, and occasionally external clients, as well as coordinate with outside counsel when necessary.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of corporate middle market, consumer banking or private banking credit underwriting experience for a nationally known bank or financial institution.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree.  Preferably with a business or finance major.
