CCB’s In-Business Operational Risk & Controls (IBRC) organization drives global consistency across CCB for addressing Operational Risk and Control issues. CCB IBRC fosters a culture of control and customer centricity and accountability by leading efforts to identify, anticipate and mitigate regulatory, reputational, and operational risks.

Roles in the operational risk and controls space are critical to managing a safe and sound global business. The primary function of IBRC is to anticipate, identify and mitigate non-credit risks, including operational, reputational and performance risks, that could impact business objectives, and to minimize control breaks, poor audit/exam results and operational risk events and losses. IBRC staff work with the business to determine appropriate mitigants to key risks, including advising them on how to design appropriate controls through a globally consistent MCA, and in overseeing the implementation of various elements of the business’s overarching Risk Appetite Framework.  The IBRC team also helps to instill a robust risk and controls culture throughout the business through a strong issues and audit/exam management discipline.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders regarding Issue development, including validation of CAP design and sustainability; proposed evidence and artifacts; root cause analysis of Corrective Action Plans (CAPS)
  • Provide reporting on issues from all sources owned by and impacting CCB.
  • Challenge issue owners to deliver actions as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Monitor Issues to identify and correct administrative data hygiene concerns.
  • Drive continuous improvement for issue management program. 
  • Provide updates on audits and issues, addressing Escalation Policy requirements and updates to BRCC.
  • Lead and coordinate a wide range of activities at the direction of the Issue Management Head.
  • Relationship management with IA to proactively escalate IA issues/concerns to primary business leads and ensure timely closure
  • Assist in global exam management, as needed, and provide oversight of positioning with IA during CAP opening and closure process, including coordination of receipt and review of artifacts for closure
  • Provide central coordination for all CCB escalations, as per the Citi Escalation Policy and Standard.
  • Assist the MCA team in input of quarterly monitoring results as needed.


  • Experience in Issue Management, Risk Management or Operational Risk a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Banking products and the competitive landscape of the business a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse group of stakeholders, including executive management
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and able to optimally manage multiple projects at once
  • Maintains high levels of credibility with key stakeholders within the organization and holds self and others accountable
  • Willingness to learn and ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills a plus
  • ​Bachelors degree in any area
