Citi Velocity was ranked #1 Web-Based Analytics Tool in the 2019 and 2020 Institutional Investor survey.

Located on the Trading Floor, we are looking to hire an Interest Rates Salesperson that will be responsible for executing Citi Velocity sales strategy for the Rates business in North America.  The candidate will work with both external clients, internal Rates sales, trading and structuring desks to market and sell Citi’s proprietary analytics, data, research, and market commentary.  This person will also be responsible for driving product development in rates, working alongside rates management, sales and trading to determine priority projects, and working with the Citi Velocity development team to deliver products to clients.

This position is most suitable for self-starters who’d like exposure to a specific asset class and broad client exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market platform functionality to institutional clients (hedge funds, asset managers, corporates). Refine and implement a sales strategy aiming at substantially expanding Citi's client network and maximizing associated revenue.
  • Develop innovative ways to communicate to existing clients and leverage existing contacts to understand client needs, introduce the offering, and drive adoption.
  • Forge a trusted relationship with other salespeople to leverage the platform for sourcing relevant commercial opportunities for the desk
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of client meetings and outreach.  Track results and create reports with data analysis and other feedback.  Report findings and results to management and sales.
  • Stay up to date with market movements to give input into timely market-driven marketing campaigns including video and market commentary.
  • Facilitate and support asset class content creation and contribution to video/podcast and commentary.
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are informed of platform updates and new functionality. Champion the brand internally making sure the business understands the platform and its goals.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


  • 6-10 years of experience at a financial services firm/sell-side organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain licenses required, Series 7 and 63.
  • Excellent knowledge of Rates markets and products; ideally knowledge in one other Global Markets product area (Credit, FX, Equities, Commodities, Securitized, Municipals); Solid understanding of Derivatives.
  • Good understanding of institutional client needs and experience dealing with real money accounts and hedge funds. Ability to develop and manage relationships with highly sophisticated individuals.
  • Self-motivated, willingness to drive client relationships independently.
  • Passion for and interest in technology and analytics.
  • Clear and concise communication - executive presence for dealing with internal senior management as well as technical savvy to work with developers.  Ability to confidently present in a board room setting.
