Product Manager - Digitization and Market Data Strategy

The ongoing digitization opportunities in financial markets are driving significant potential for increased efficiencies and reduced risk across businesses. Further, the use of data and related products continues to grow across the financial services industry. Within Markets, data is increasingly driving the growth of new products and business. The availability of data in new digital forms is also impacting on how we conduct our existing business and driving the use of more efficient pre-trade analysis and risk management.

Citi MSS Innovation team leads the MSS-wide efforts, globally, to look at Market Data utilization and then define & execute on critical strategic initiatives. This team works closely with the trading desks and as well functional partners. This team also is driving several digitization efforts leveraging emerging technologies and working with FinTechs and Financial Market Infrastructures. This team focuses on market structure strategy in partnership with the Markets legal teams.

  • The Product Manager is a management position responsible for analyzing data, setting strategy and providing direction, leadership and budgetary management, etc. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development  strategies, and tactics.
  • The responsibilities of the role will be to work on analyzing Data providers as well as Clearing & settlement venues, coming up with a future business strategy, monitoring existing usage, and maintaining vendor / FMI dialogue and relationship.
  • Key part of the role will be to assist and work with the various internal desks and constituents in implementing various initiatives as well as contractual discussions.
  • Develop plans and execute functional strategies for a country, multiple countries, region, or business requiring coordination and integration across units as well as provide input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business
  • Manage client and competitor market research, develop product innovation roadmap, and address fundamental trials of product commoditization to create an advanced set of solutions
  • Help drive innovation by working with external partners/alliances to develop products, manage vendor relationships, and prepare agreements
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


  • 5-8 years’ experience in a financial services organization in similar role
  • Strong financial markets acumen as well as the consistently changing regulatory environment
  • Experience with operational and strategic support of brokerages, trading venues, clearing houses, and electronic exchanges
  • Experience analyzing usage of vendors, maintaining the relationships, and negotiating contracts
  • Ability to navigate between Citi’s internal desks and act as point of contact for both internal and external contacts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment


  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
