Citi is seeking a highly motivated Vice President (VP) to play a key role in the development of the policies supporting and the governance around the management of wholesale credit risk across Citigroup and CBNA.

In this new role, the VP will assist the Wholesale Credit Risk Policy Governance lead with the entirety of the policy and governance lifecycle for the Wholesale Credit Risk function. The lifecycle includes development, approval, implementation, issuance, periodic review, maintenance, monitoring and reporting. The VP will also support the communication, training, and execution of Wholesale Credit Risk policies within the relevant businesses and functions and will assist with Citi’s engagement with Regulators on policy and governance-related communication, reviews and exams. The VP will lead and reinforce the understanding of, and adherence to, the policies, standards, and procedures that apply to the daily job responsibilities of individuals in the relevant businesses and functions across Citigroup and CBNA engaged in wholesale credit risk-related activities. In doing so, they will routinely collaborate with senior leaders across the firm and will embody Citi’s ethos of strong risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development

  • Assist the Wholesale Credit Risk Policy Governance Lead with the development and implementation of the Wholesale Credit Risk Framework, which will establish the policies, standards and procedures underlying the management of wholesale credit risk at Citigroup and CBNA, including the Citi and Wholesale Credit Risk strategic priorities underlying the framework
  • Ensure that developed policies, standards, and procedures reflect applicable regulatory requirements and supervisory guidance
  • Engage and collaborate with senior leaders within the Risk function and individuals within Citigroup’s and CBNA’s businesses and functions on policy development, review, and implementation
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities in the policy development and review processes

Implementation and Communication 

  • Assist the Wholesale Credit Risk Policy Governance Lead with the implementation of policy documents
  • Develop and lead relevant policy communications and trainings to embed understanding and execution within relevant businesses and functions
  • Support the Wholesale Credit Risk Policy Governance Lead and other senior Risk leaders in connection with regulatory engagement on Wholesale Credit Risk policy and governance-related matters
  • Coordinate closely with the Risk policy governance process and the Citigroup policy governance process
  • Ensure all relevant Wholesale Credit policy sets are appropriately present and index on the Citigroup Policy tool

Adherence, Consequence Management, and Remediation

  • Understand, report on, troubleshoot and, where necessary, drive adherence to policies within relevant businesses and functions
  • Assist with the timely identification, escalation, and remediation of policy breaches
  • Develop tracking and reporting on policy waivers, dispensations, breaches, policy-related issue remediations, and policy-related control failures  

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in controls, credit risk management, legal or the equivalent, with a focus on financial services
  • Bank regulatory and/or banking/financial industry experience a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills and judgment, including the ability to synthesize and describe complex principles and concepts in ways that are easy to understand
  • Flexible, innovative, and adaptive, and ability to work autonomously
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
  • Ability to work collaboratively with regional and global partners in across functional units
  • Experience in responding to regulatory exams and interacting with examiners, auditors, and the like
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services laws, rules, and regulations
  • Bachelor’s/University degree required
  • JD, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree a plus
