Insurance Product Manager

The CPWM Insurance Product Manager will report to the SVP, Head of Wealth Planning & Insurance – who manages the Wealth Planning Specialist, Insurance Planning Specialist, and Insurance Product teams –  and will work under the Sales Group organization.

We are looking for someone who is a smart self-starter and passionate about delivering a great customer experience. The Product Manager will drive delivery of new product launches and execution of the product roadmap in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders across the company.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysis of existing products, market research and competitor analysis.

  • Look for opportunities to enhance our product offering, making recommendations underpinned by customer and advisor driven insights.
  • Manage the launch of new products and product changes, while responding to the ever-changing regulatory environment.

  • Communicate product changes and new product launches to management and the field.
  • Collaborate as the insurance subject matter expert across the CPWM organization with financial advisors, sales management, insurance specialists, wealth planners, insurance vendor relationship managers, third-party case management company, third-party due diligence firm, the Central Review Unit (CRU), and Compliance/Legal.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with our insurance vendor partners. This will include frequent communication with the vendor product teams and relationship managers.

  • Where appropriate, respond to new insurance vendors interested in getting their products on the CPWM platform. This includes respectfully responding to their questions and presentations.
  • Work with product operations team to provide the field with a seamless end-to-end insurance sales process.
  • Responsible for understanding the regulatory environment and the impact on insurance products and distribution – e.g., SEC Reg BI, NY Reg 187, DOL, State Insurance Commissioners, etc.  
  • Assist SVP with development and implementation of insurance marketing initiatives, help identify areas of opportunity for FA education, and work to create and deliver field facing product training.
  • Work with third party vendor to conduct quarterly product due diligence process

  • Passionate about the important role insurance products play in a client’s overall financial plan.

  • Innovative thinker who is focused on positive changes that will move CPWM toward seamless and digitally enhanced insurance sales.
  • Life and/or Financial Institution experience, with strong understanding of insurance products, illustrations, underwriting, needs based-selling, risk and legal/compliance issues.
  • 5 + years of work experience, with 4+ years as insurance product manager or in insurance sales.
  • Experience selecting and launching insurance products in a financial institution.
  • Broad understanding of financial services, investments, and all aspects of life insurance, long term care and disability insurance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product management principles and techniques, and the ability to identify critical paths.
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Top notch written and oral communication skills, including solid presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt easily to a constantly changing environment, juggle multiple tasks and prioritize work to maintain efficiency.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • FINRA Series 7, life & health insurance license (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required)
