The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Regulatory Group (CRA Group) resides within Global Public Affairs, which seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its business and the brand across the world through direct and indirect communication with Citi’s various stakeholders.  The CRA Group oversees Citi's CRA program, its governance structure, and CRA-related examinations. The CRA Group partners with Citi's U.S. businesses to establish CRA lending, investment and service goals to meet Citi's CRA obligations and achieve a record of CRA performance commensurate with an "Outstanding" rating. Together with CRA-related businesses, the CRA Group proactively manages Citi's reputational risk and relationships with external stakeholders, including bank regulators.

The CRA Group is comprised of four teams (CRA Analysis, CRA Governance and Policy, CRA Regulatory Reporting, and CRA Verification) and is committed to maintaining Citi’s outstanding and best-in-class community reinvestment program

Position Summary    

The Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Exception Analyst will report to the CRA Regulatory Reporting Manager who is responsible for HMDA and CRA submissions to the bank’s regulators. 

We are seeking a professional with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the HMDA exception process and should possess a strong technical knowledge of the HMDA regulation and excellent software skills. Knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and regulatory software CRA Wiz are also extremely desirable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all HMDA exception reporting and corrections for Citi’s legal vehicles;   

  • Produce HMDA Exception Reports containing Validity, Quality and Custom Edits and send to business channels;

  • Make appropriate changes to HMDA Loan Application Register (LAR) data when exception reports are corrected and returned by the businesses.  Update data as directed by businesses to remediate inaccurate field values;

  • Work closely with the HMDA Process Manager to ensure data accuracy and assist in preparation of the HMDA quarterly and annual submissions;

  • Monitor Exception volumes and create weekly progress reports; and

  • Act as back-up to HMDA Process Manager and CRA Exception Manager as needed.  

Required Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office suite with very strong Excel skills;

  • MS SQL experience a plus;

  • CRA Wiz or other regulatory software a strong plus;

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

  • Ability to function effectively in a dynamic and evolving work environment;

  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills;

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;

Experience/Training

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Solid understanding of HMDA’s technical requirements and the business-specific applications affected by regulatory change;

  • Prior compliance policy experience a plus;
