The Head of Franchise Growth is a new role and represents a unique opportunity for a motivated leader to shape the future of Citi GCB.  The leader will help define the Consumer Bank of the Future. This individual will help define future value propositions, distribution, and key capabilities for growth through a structured program of research and close collaboration with Regional CEOs and their teams. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop vision, strategy and roadmap for key One-Citi areas of focus: Payments and Banking, Digital Assets, and Lending; inclusive of defining future state value propositions, product portfolio, technology infrastructure and critical capabilities (e.g. underwriting, data)

  • Payments and Banking Innovation

    • Understand customer banking and payments needs

    • Evaluate potentially disruptive technologies and potential partner firms that can enhance Citi’s capabilities and solve for significant unmet client needs

    • Define branch banking and distribution models of the future for GCB, including tools / technology and omni-channel strategies

  • Digital Assets Innovation

    • Understand customer needs and behavioral patterns driving cryptocurrency, stable coin and distributed ledger technology usage among retail customers

    • Evaluate potential value propositions, product/ platform partnerships involving crypto currencies, stablecoins, CBDCs and other distributed ledger/ blockchain innovations (collectively referred to as ‘digital assets’)

    • Evolve GCB’s position on regulatory and Central Bank Digital Currency developments in close partnership with Citi’s Global Public Affairs teams

  • Lending Innovation

    • Understand alternative / non-card based lending customer needs

    • Conduct periodic industry scans for disruptive lending technologies and partner firms that could enhance Citi’s lending capabilities and solve for significant unmet client needs

    • Assess platforms, POS lending scaled via digital ecosystems, underwriting models based on non-traditional data and use of distributed ledger technologies in the lending space

    • Define next generation of consumer lending products and partnership constructs for Citi, leveraging internal assets and defining new capability needs

  • Develop future product roadmap for GCB, inclusive of helping regional teams drive product innovation

  • Establish routines and mechanisms to oversee progress in achieving vision, strategy, and investment priorities, inclusive of clearly defined metrics and milestones

  • Partner closely with Citi Ventures and ICG Innovation to drive identify opportunities and leverage best practices

  • Develop approach to drive best-practice sharing and collaboration across regions along defined areas of future growth; provide support and guidance to Regional teams as needed to ensure objectives are met 

  • Maintain a strong controls environment

  • Recruit, lead and manage a small, high performing team

    • Identify and recruit new talent into the GCB organization

    • Ensure team gains visibility and mentorship to build a long term career at Citi, with the franchise growth role as a springboard


  • Proven track record as a senior leader in all aspects of business management (strategy, sales, people leadership, operations, financial performance, risk & controls)

  • Proven track record in leading transformation and change, and ability to materially change business trajectory

  • Knowledge of emerging trends in banking and innovative client-focused product and solutions

  • Strategic, analytical, and systematic thinker who consistently challenges the status quo and constructively challenges the team to drive change and continuous improvement

  • Extensive knowledge of consumer financial services; demonstrates clear understanding of the drivers of performance and decision making to maximize results

  • Demonstrated ability to build internal relationships with broader stakeholders across a franchise in order to drive to common goals and outcomes with specific focus on connecting dots across global teams and regions

  • Ability to utilize available tools and resources to accomplish end goals

  • Open, transparent and highly collaborative leader who builds trusted relationships across teams and geographies

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work in a matrixed environment

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 15+ years of experience
