The Data Lead for Finance overviews and drives implementation of the Data Policies and Standards developed at enterprise level which guides Data Management across the Finance function.  The Finance Governance Lead will be part of the Finance Transformation Data team, ,which is responsible for the governance and utilization of data/information as a critical business asset across the Finance function. This role also works to ensure our Finance function’s goals are achieved in a manner that leverages the best practices and sound procedures expected of a global, systemically important financial institution. The Data Lead will help drive Finance data strategy and will partner effectively across the function to ensure corporate standards are adhered to. The Data Lead takes the enterprise policies and standards and translate to local procedures, measures and controls and implement them in a way that makes sense for Finance. The aim of  this role is to provide a framework that empowers the Finance function to drive opportunity, innovation, and business value ensuring the best result for our clients. The Data Lead is responsible for working to ensure the Finance function is aware of, and compliant with, Citi’s data policy. The individual will also ensure that our data lifecycle management processes regarding definition, standardization, privacy, retention and disposal are robust.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary role will be accountable for identifying and driving end results relative to data issue remediation and Data Governance capability adoption across key finance disciplines.

  • Ensures adherence to the standards and procedures to identify and define the data domains and associated models of the enterprise data assets.

  • Defines and establishes appropriate data standards, understanding the data needs of regulatory and internal reporting, the acquisition of that data, the financial reconciliation and Data Quality

  • Defines the logical data models and quality rules for owned domains

  • Assesses the efficacy and completeness of existing data contracts, and be a key taxonomy and tool for the Business Simplification that has ownership for Process Modelling

  • Establishes procedures and curate processes for identifying, reporting, monitoring, escalating and remediating all data quality concerns

  • Collaborates with stakeholders in the businesses to ensure they remediate issues that materialize in Finance.


  • A senior executive with a minimum of 10 - 15 years relevant practical experience with an observable and impactful delivery track record

  • The ability to partner and influence at a senior level ensuring shared ownership of the Finance function’s data strategy

  • An understanding of the dynamics of effective data management within a global organization

  • A relentless, and uncompromising, approach to Data Quality

  • An understanding of the overall regulatory environment as it impacts data quality at a G-SIB organization

  • An understanding of the overlap of, and potential synergies available, if Business Data is used efficiently across Risk, Finance and Compliance

  • An understanding of the data supporting Citi’s businesses and products

  • A technology background and/or CFO/CRO experience
