The Prcs Ctrl Sr Grp Mgr manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility of a team including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end process and provide timely updates to Senior Management including potential risk on the timely completion of issues owned by Controllers
  • Act as the Representative on Issue Management forums and governance groups on behalf of Controller
  • Promote strong control environment for Controller groups
  • Ensure Finance issue management standards are met.  Participate in the evolution of Issue Management and Remediation processes
  • Fully accountable for adherence to Global Issue Management Policy
  • Establish a robust project management disciplines and routines with clear accountability for all deliverables required to complete corrective actions through to issue remediation and closure
  • Partner with relevant teams (i.e. Business, CAO, Compliance, ORM) in all parts of the issue life cycle.  Escalate any critical decisions, roadblocks, or delivery issues to management.
  • Establish formal communication process with stakeholders and senior business leaders to ensure timely escalation where required
  • Drive standardization and implementation of best practices that will improve data quality and scorecard results, drawing on collective risk experience/knowledge
  • Accountable for the development of standard protocols for end to end issue management cycle including data waterfall analysis, enhanced control and monitoring practices, sustainability processes and issue closure evidence
  • Participate and/or assist with any internal or external audit reviews, as needed, that impact Controller with relation to Issues Management activities.
  • Analyze Controller issues to identify themes that impact the broader Controllers and drive holistic remediation
  • Oversight and assist with any other related activities/tasks.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years relevant experience on Risk and Control
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk specifically on Issues Management
  • Strong understanding of Citi Risk & Control platform specifically on Manager’s Control Assessment
  • Project or program management experience a must, especially large, global projects
  • Ability to manage and work with multiple groups, businesses and communicate professionally with Senior Management
  • Strong understanding of iCAPs system and the Assessment, Issue and Corrective Action Plan Policy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and function independently
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education:

  • Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
