Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) is looking for a Director to join the Corporate Banking Sustainability and Corporate Transitions (Corporate Banking SCT) team in New York. This team is formulating the strategy with respect to (and building out the capability to execute on) the goals, targets and plans that Citi has defined (and will further define) around Sustainability, inclusive of Citi’s Net Zero commitments. Additionally, the team will focus on developing financing strategies and corporate finance approaches for BCMA clients in pursuing their decarbonization goas and transition strategies. The Corporate Banking SCT team will work alongside the Investment Banking BCMA SCT team. The Corporate Banking SCT team will also collaborate closely across industry sectors and other BCMA teams, as well as Citi’s Climate Risk Management team and Citi’s corporate Office of Sustainability.


  • Contribute to defining the frameworks and strategy with respect to BCMA delivering it’s sustainability mandate, objectives and goals
  • Work with senior BCMA professionals and Risk officers to develop and implement the capability to execute on Citi’s Net Zero commitments
  • Prepare written recommendations, presentations and statistical exhibits and lead internal discussions and presentations
  • Own and lead specific work streams with respect to Climate and Net Zero; demonstrate internal leadership across ICG-wide initiatives across businesses and functions
  • Develop an understanding of external frameworks established to guide the implementation of Net Zero initiatives, as well as the emerging field of carbon accounting standards; identify where new opportunities might arise from these growing bodies of knowledge
  • Set priorities for, and mentor more junior members of the team; lead new initiatives
  • Work with Senior Bankers and Risk officers to assess climate risk
  • Build and execute complex financial optimization models
  • Lead and contribute to specific business initiatives and transaction initiatives/opportunities with respect to corporate finance solutions for our corporate banking clients, where climate, sustainability and/or ESG are key drivers
  • Engage in the management of climate and credit risk through partnership with senior credit officers and capital management
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • You have a minimum undergraduate degree from a strong academic institution and
  • You have Sustainability-relevant work experience or can demonstrate a strong interest in and understanding of climate change (and ESG more broadly)

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Some professional exposure to or experience with the realms of sustainability, climate and/or ESG
  • Knowledge of corporate banking business including related products, pertinent regulations and the lending and credit approval process
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, organizational, negotiation, presentation, client-relationship, analytical and credit skills
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Some experience in originating, structuring and executing transactions and financings preferred, but not required
  • Some experience with large, global corporate clients across ICG products (capital markets, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities) preferred
  • Series 79 and 63 licenses preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines
