Citi’s business activities significantly depend on access to global Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs), including Exchanges & Trading Venues, Derivatives and Securities Clearing CCPs, Securities Settlement Systems / Central Securities Depositories, FX Settlement Systems, and Payment Systems.

Further, Citi Markets business is working on a number of Blockchain / Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Digital Asset initiatives that span business/product teams, asset classes and regions. We are partnering closely with clients, Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs like exchanges, clearing houses and settlement venues), and FinTech providers. These initiatives have continued to grow and are in various stages of the innovation and deployment funnel and we expect our engagement to continue to expand as the technology continues to evolve and will impact our businesses on multiple fronts.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to lead Blockchain and FMI-related initiatives, including Blockchain strategy setting, opportunity identification, business development and platform strategy, client and regulatory engagement, industry advocacy, and governance. This role will play an integral part in defining and executing our platform strategy, while providing opportunities to continue growing a broad skillset at the forefront of innovation in financial markets.

Specifically, the role would work with various Citi business and functional areas to identify and build core capabilities. In addition, as FMIs start adopting new technological changes (e.g., Blockchain/Distributed Ledger Technology, Cloud Computing), the role will support these initiatives as well, leading outreach to FMIs to understand emerging trends, technologies and business developments.

FMI and Platform Strategy

  • Keeping abreast with the new products and service launches (driven by new technology / platform capabilities, new listing or enhancing margin efficiency) as well as drive changes
  • Identify new FMI service / products offerings that provide revenue generating / cost reduction opportunities for Citi
  • Partner with businesses to look at end to end process with the most optimum market access strategy (Trading and Post Trade) to serve clients
  • Partner with in-business risk, PSRM, Treasury, FRM, legal and compliance on FMI issues. Contribute to and lead elements of firm-wide FMI initiatives

Blockchain and Digital Assets

  • Work as an integral member of the team with a primary focus on the timely execution of new activity in the DLT space
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the firm to understand their businesses and identify opportunities to leverage blockchain / distributed ledger technology
    • Manage the diverse set of Citi initiatives in partnership with the appropriate business, operations, technology and legal teams
    • Represent the firm externally with clients, FMIs,  FinTechs to support development of new digital solutions
    • Develop a deep understanding of various DLT technologies and associated partners to identify collaboration opportunities
    • Review new FinTech opportunities to accelerate digital transformation at Citi

Regulatory and Advocacy

  • Identify key areas of advocacy and coordinate efforts from business perspective
  • Proactively involvement in evolution of market infrastructure rules by engaging with the industry bodies (eg ISDA, AFME, SIFMA)  

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Experience working with DLT technology and with Financial Market Infrastructures
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
