Working closely with Citi’s Chief Currency Strategist, to promote CitiFX’s business by providing analysis of foreign exchange and broader financial markets, through client interactions, thought leadership publications and trade ideas. Working closely with FX sales and trading and Citi’s internal stakeholders, to create sustainable and scalable investment recommendations, and currency management solutions for institutional clients.


  • Produce high-quality, commercial analysis of foreign exchange, policy decision and broader financial markets for Citi’s key institutional clients
  • Create thematic publications on and analysis of cryptocurrencies
  • Create and effective publications and presentations to clients, to provide market analysis, currency management solutions and investment recommendations
  • Collect and process data and develop models, tools and frameworks to analyze foreign exchange and broader financial markets. Being data-driven and empirical is critical for this role.
  • Support organizing value-added events on FX, broader markets and global themes for Citi’s institutional clients
  • Build close partnerships with FX Institutional Sales and Trading and other key internal stakeholders to serve Citi’s institutional clients
  • Actively participate in team efforts to support internal stakeholders and external clients.


  • 2+ year of experience in an analytical markets role, preferably with direct experience in foreign exchange or other macro-driven markets
  • A strong understanding of macroeconomics and drivers of exchange rates, economic policy and central banks
  • A good understanding of the uses of financial derivatives
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative subject, economics or finance; Phd desirable
  • Fluent and confident communication skills;
  • Good writing skills in English;
  • Ability to do quantitative analysis and to work with large datasets;
  • Good coding skills (eg Python, R, SQL, VBA).
  • Extreme attention to detail;
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently;
  • Creative thinking and effective problem solving;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • A team player.
  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.


  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience in quantitative subject, economics or finance
  • Master's degree preferred, PhD desirable
